Central Hrating . On or off or just warm clothes

Hertford

I am not a big fan of central heating and prefer to keep some windows open where possible . When it is very cold outside , I will have it on ..

Some people are already using it even though it is still mild ..Everyone has freedom of choice . It always seems a waste of energy people wearing light weight clothes in their houses but having the heat on at full blast .

Do you dress according to the temperature in your house or just turn the heat on regardless ?..

I've just come home from working in a very nicely heated working environment to a cold house, but have left the heating off and changed into some warmish clothes.... and faced the ire of my daughter moaning that I havn't put the heating on while she is getting ready for work..... the heating isn't needed yet,

Just half an hour in the morning to warm the house first thing.

I can't stand houses that are heated to 25 degrees. If I want that, I go to the tropical houses at Chester Zoo

I've had mine on twice so far, just for a couple of hours to heat me up. I'm sandwiched in the second floor so my flat is generally pretty cosy without it. I like the window open too. I tend to just wrap myself in a furry blanket if I'm chilly.

I spent my summer ripping out the fire place to fit a big log burning stove which heat all the rads. Big soft rug in front of it and it makes the house so cosy. Deff have it going on days like today 3 degree's out. Brrrrrr

Heating on two nights this week rather wander about in something skimpy and be warm. Plus the dog gets the hump unless it's on.

had to put it on last night but that was because daughter was not well and didnt want to add cold to her misery - im a snuggle under the blanket person more because of the cost - if i could i would be naked in a warm house

This kind of makes me laugh, been living at my parents for a few weeks whilst we've had an extension built on our house.

Their house is only 8 years old so is packed with insulation, they've got 16 solar panels on the roof and a boiler rated at over 90% efficiency.

My dad still moans when the heating goes on for a bit

Chippenham Malmesbury area

My house has some could areas where black mould grows - I've increase the loft insulation, had wall insulation put in and I have device for moving the air around the building but it still persists.

Keeping the house fairly warm helps so I've had the heating on for the last few days.

I spent last summer doing the same thing! I was really chuffed with myself as I did the whole project alone, apart from the stove installation. Last winter was toasty. I'm saving up for a load of logs for this winter now, it'll be lovely.

Don't get much choice in my house. As the controls are sealed away by the landlord. It must be getting colder tough as I find myself wearing opaque tights and stockings more. Lok

Sounds like you could do with a dehumidifier.

Just had a 8.5 kW wood burner installed so hoping not to put the central heating on at all this winter . Have a shed full of logs I have been collecting over the summer ( free I might add ) so hopefully I can tell the energy company to stick there big gas bill this year !

Likewise. I'm in a converted Chapel with a near 20ft pitched roof above me. No central heating. Have electric underfloor heating under a timber floor which isn't fit for purpose.

Keeping warm in Winter is a real struggle for me.

I tend to put a jumper on or sit under a blanket as first port of call...my house gets really cold but then warms up fast when the heating comes on so I then get too hot! Can't win really.

17c-18c in living area is comfortable for me.

14c-15c in bedroom.

But, I don't achieve that through Winter.

My rule is to keep heating off until November, preferably not the first of November. I was brought up in a old building, lived in the countryside, so have been used to living according to the weather etc.

Dress appropriately and keep heating bills down is about right for me. Ultra high mini-skirts and stockings, wrapped in a space blanket.

Any higher than about 18c and I'm starting to lose clothing.

If it's 20c + in the Summer, you'll invariably find me lounging around, with my nuts hanging out

I go on a thermometer, and anything below 60f and The heating goes on has it did this Morning most likely tonight has well if the temperatures the same 58/59f is out Of my comfort zone.
