I wasn't perturbed by the fully manned and extremely busy halal butchers. Nor was I shocked by the polish deli counter. No what astounded me was the 6p charge for a "bag for life" carrier bag. Not 5pence as the government decrees but a whopping whole penny more for us to have to walk from the checkout to the car park advertising their cheapskate supermarket chain. Scandalous! Think about it carrier bags were perviously paid by the shoppers as part of the genearl costs the store used to set the price of the goods they sold.
