Angus & Findhorn

The family of an 80-year-old former soldier who was brutally beaten up by burglars has released a photo of him in a bid to find the “monsters” who committed the crime.

Tommy Ward was left for dead with a fractured skull, broken ribs and a broken jaw, after being attacked outside his home in Maltby, South Yorkshire.

The thieves also fled with £30,000 of his life savings.

The photos of this poor man in his hospital are terrible x

God bless you Tommy xxxxx you brave, brave man xx

If and when they find the guilty parties, may I have a few minutes alone with them?

Pretty please.........

I can't put down my feelings on this as it annoys me so much what they did to a person.

I only hope they catch the people that did it and throw away the key.

Fingers crossed that he pulls through.

Christ that's horrific. I don't know how we manage to breed such disgusting excuses for human beings.

Unspeakable and inhuman. I'm glad the media picked it up, at least his pension pot will be replaced and some.

The sadening thing is that even if caught the chances of a conviction which matches the horror of the assault is slim.

14 years ago I was a victim of an unprevoked assault.

5 guys attacked me, one came at me from behind and knocked me out cold with a steering wheel lock.

They then kicked me around before one put my face on the kerb and stamped on my head.

They didn't even call an ambulance...

My parents were woken at 3am, after someone going home from a party found me and dialled 999, and told to go to the hospital straight away to say goodbye as I wouldn't live until morning.

For two days the hospital told them I was fighting but that I wouldn't wake up.

I did wake up and had 8.5 hrs of surgery which involved a cut ear to ear accross the top of my head, my face taking off, a new eye socket being made out of surgical cement and 15 titanium strips bolting the jigsaw puzzle of bone pieces together.

The 5 guys were caught and tried for intent to endanger life, a max custodial sentence of life.

The cps couldn't prove which one had hit me with the steering wheel lock or who had stamped on my head so they got 1 year each for assault and served 6 months....

Due wholly to government cutbacks, even if caught. These vile people will serve little or no time in overcrowded prisons.

They will get probation or a "TAG" to wear with pride as they boast about their encounters with the law.

It is cheaper to let them run riot than lock them up.

You know it makes perfect sense, to a government that wants to pay for nothing, but take every penny they can steal.

That's total and utter bollocks.

You can blame anything you want on the government, if you want to, but it's probably more due to a libertarian society.

The prison system had been overcrowded for many, many years, and a general deterioration in the values of society as a whole

Sadly there are people out there who have no values or morals at all.

I wonder how they can be rehabilitated into society, which is what the prison service is supposed to be about

Sometimes you do wish that there was somewhere where you could just dump these dregs.

If it's of interest I have access to 80 acres of pretty much uncharted land.

Just sayin........

Just seen the story. Incredibly sad. Sometimes humanity is inspirational, but sadly, sometimes humanity shocks you to the core.

Absolutely sickening
