I'm heading to the big smoke in November, to present at a conference

Is been a while since I was last there and I've only one night to enjoy myself, so what would you kind folks recommend I do ?

What time in November? Some of the Christmas events will be up and running in the parks, or possibly ice skating at Somerset House or Greenwich etc.

It's our Capital city, what do you like? If you like it, there's probably somewhere to do it in London!

travelling up in the afternoon, so it'll be the evening, followed by the conference the next day

That's hard, being a weekday and all. I'll leave it to the non-tourists to answer. Sorry!

But seriously, what are you after/where are you staying?

I can recommend all over town, if you want.

No hotel booked as yet, as I'm still tbc on the speaker list

Generally looking for somewhere to get out and have some entertainment rather than stare at hotel bedroom walls.

Just looking to be inspired

"Just looking to be inspired "

Well, as I always say, if you can't find what yr looking for in London you're not trying hard enough.

But a location for you is important - you don;t want to waste half your night on public transport or rushing to find a Tube before it closes or forking out for a cab &c &c...

Work out where you're staying and it gets much easier.

What's your time frame, ie how long have you got, what times of day/night?

Probably going to try and stay South Bank/ Waterloo area.

Get in around 6pm and up til midnight at latest (I do have to think a bit about work !)

Rather not do the usual Piccadily/ Leicester Sq/ Covent Garden/ China Town stuff

Glastonbury

It's gonna be heaving when you get in. Dump yr bags and see if there's anywhere along the way you fancy to eat, if not head for Southbank and eat there. Plent of restaurants - Wagamama's is ok if you like noshing Japanese food in a canteen style atmosphere.

You could get the water ferry from W'loo to Bankside and start with the Tate Modern (open 'till 10pm Fri&Sat)...

Then walk your way back...

All depends...

C'mon we can do much better than a chain restaurant!

OP, when you know where you're staying drop me a line and I'll give you a bespoke guide for your short stay.
