Do you accept gifts from meets?

I saw a status update earlier from a woman asking if any men would like to take her to see a comedian playing locally tonight.

Ever done anything similar?

Nope. I have sex because I enjoy the sex not as a means to achieving a night out.

Northampton Somewhere

I have men offer me all sorts of things but I never accept gifts from guys off here.

Although I was tempted just a teeny bit to accept an offer of shoe shopping once

I used to bring a bloke I fucked an M&S cheesecake. He loved it.

I'm a generous person, but when it comes to sex I want (need, actually) the lady to enjoy herself. I wouldn't like it if she was there for the gifts (or the cash) instead of wanting to see me.

No, it would make me feel uncomfortable.

I tend to bring gifts to nights out and things like that. However, these are more for mirth purposes as a number of people will complain about

No one has offered us gifts but I did take a cake to a meet...

Is that a no no then?

I dunno, I did the same. Seems polite when they're hosting.

I have posted a status saying anyone want to take me to the cinema.

I hadn't thought of it as asking for gifts, just an option for a social

I helped someone move a sofa up a flight of stairs on a meet if that counts as a gift.

Surely if it's in exchange for something it's payment not a gift

A gift is given freely with no expectations. If someone chooses to give me a gift well that's lovely, but it won't alter my intentions.

I think there's a difference to taking a gift for someone whether it's flowers or wine or something more personal when you visit, I would never turn up to someone's house empty handed and I send random stuff through the post to my friends on a pretty regular basis but I wouldn't accept nor demand presents or nights out or anything else from someone in an attempt to buy me into bed.

If people are offering things, report them. A gift is one thing, payment for services is something else entirely. Equally if someone demands money or material things, report them too. It's not what this place is about.

You'd take cake to a friend's house, to work, to a member of the family, etc, without expecting reciprocation.

I think that a decent benchmark as to what is a thoughtful gift and what is payment.

You mean that Whoopee cushion I gave you hasn't entitled me to first dibs on any cake going?

Absolutely not. A meet is for mutual pleasure so the score, if we're keeping one, is already even. I like to offer meets food, especially if they've travelled a long way, but that's just polite.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this sort of thing bad taste.

I've never asked someone to buy me something (well other than the daily demands I make on hubby's bank card!), how many people would expect something in return for their "gift" and that's when it becomes prostitution in my mind!

I've taken bottles of wine to meets, and even accepted a bite of someone's muffin on a social meets but I do that to none Fab friends too.

Never took cake to a meet, maybe that's where I'm going wrong

That's how I'd see it too, an would apply that to the comedian, in theory.

I take cakes and biscuits all over the place and don't expect sex. I just thought as we were being welcomed to their home it's only polite to take something and I bake so that's what people get.

I think the difference for me is asking someone else to pay for your time and company?

It's different when you are dating and a you're asked out, while I always offers to pay my own way I didn't argue when he refused to accept. He did ask me out after all.

But as this is a sex site my worry would be asking for something in return for your company could come with expectations of return?

Just a theory, don't want to offend anyone

For me there's a difference in asking to be taken and asking for someone to accompany you. Given the nature of the site it could be interpreted as an invitation to more than a social.

Central

Id not assume that someone asking for a companion to an event would expect a free ticket and reward by having sex. Id happily have companions, good company and sex but it could be about paying our own way.

It's lovely to get gifts in the right circumstances and it could be awful at other times, adding pressure for someone etc.

Report anything that seems suspect to admin, so they can review the situation.

I take your point, but we've both seen the English language mangled badly enough on here for either option to actually mean the other...

Personally I wouldn't go see a comedian for a social - how am I supposed to laugh them into bed with a professional doing better material??? But a music gig, or even theatre - why not?

True!

As I've said before though, I'm a cynical old bag and experience has taught me to be a bit careful......not all men are as nice as you.
