What a performance by the Aussies tonight, 2 men down but still made every tackle one on one, as gutsy a performance as I have ever seen.

I can see the score

I just think that "unbelieveable" is a bit generous considering that the captain of the opposition has had 2 weeks leave from his job in a bank to come here and play

Just my opinion of course

Well done England on the win anyway

The best game of the day had the lowest score, I'd check out the Aus v Wales game if you want to see how it should be played, scoring lots of tries against a team like Uruguay isn't anything to write home about I'm afraid

The problem for the future of English rugby is that everyone will look at the score; forget that the opposition were amateurs that played a test 4 days before; that those amateurs won more turnovers and England's penalty count would be considered awful.

The only bright side is I'm not an England supporter!

I realize you won't like this idea.

You have to do no exercise and eat lots of things like crisps and chocolate to increase the size of your bottom. This spreads your weight more evenly over the sofa. By the time you weigh over 30 stone, there's practically no impact at all, on your coach.

so.....

Australia vs Scotland

South Africa vs Wales

Ireland vs Argentina

New Zealand vs France

who you got in each game...... and why?

I have australia... although i see the scots giving them a game for 65 minutes....

South africa.... if wales couldn't "out physical" australia I don't fancy their chances against the boks...

Ireland.... think their back row and the back line are much better.... the argies will have to play "up the jumper" front 5 rugby to keep it close...

the last quarter is the hardest to call... france did not play badly yesterday.... and new zealand haven't really played well all tourny.... if france can get off to a fast start the all blacks could be in trouble.....

agree that France could cause a fright with the all blacks but still see the latter edging it..

with you also about Aussies, they look like going all the way to the final, think Ireland may well be without O'Brien if he is cited as well as O'Mahoney and poss O'Connell..

A full strength Wales would i think beat the boks but they are far from that..

would have loved to have seen Japan get through..

Im going with the underdogs Scotland, although it would be a tough ask.

The springboks over Wales for me any day of the weeks.

And the others Ireland and the All Blacks, but hoping the others win as if Scotland and South Africa both do they would have easier games in the semis lol.

I was at Kingsholme for the USA v Japan game and it was a wondeful atmosphere. Japan have won the support of pretty much all the supporters at this world cup and it would have been great to see them progress.

I hope they are rewarded with an autumn international tour in 2017 and a Lions game in Japan as they fly out to New Zealand for the next Lions tour. They played one in Hong Kong on their way to Australia a couple of years ago - although this was probably due to the sponsorship by HSBC.

suspension updates...

Scotland Johnny Gray and Ross ford both get 3 week suspensions for dangerous tackles..... ruling them out of the rest of the world cup...

Ireland's Sean O'Brien gets 1 week for striking pascal pape... missed the quarted final against argentina... but would be back for a potential semi against australia..

Sean's been quite lucky I think. Watch Rhys Ruddock (O'Mahoney's replacement). He's quick, strong and almost magically seems to know where to be for the ball.

actually the one thing ireland just happens not to be short of is not bad 2nd row'ers... obviously not quite as good as POC... but you had henderson coming on... and McCarthy coming in is actually not a bad replacement...

i think SOB only got one week because they kinda understood why he would do it... (backstory being Pape got 12 weeks for a deliberate strike with his knee to SOB's back in the 6 nations... and put SOB out till weeks before this tourny started)

here

For me, part of the beauty in the game of rugby union is the passion and flashes of brilliance - sometimes in the face of good fortune or adversity.

All this TMO and citing is stripping the game of this uniqueness.

What will be left with???

i think the use of the TMO which was horrid at the start of the tournament has gotten a lot better, and was really impressed then way owens and peyper were using the tmo to check things whilst the game was going on without having to stop play... and then the tmo were telling them stuff again without the play stopping....

citing has always been contenious... in the world cup it had been a impartial panel rather than the home union conducting it....

This is true!

If you've not seen the picture of Paddy Jackson and Tommy Bowe that was all over Facebook yesterday , you should. Brilliant.

Very, very unlikely, but wouldn't it be a turn-up if Wales, Scotland, Ireland and France all got through? Be like the 6 Nations for the rest of the tournament! Realistically, Ireland have the best chance of progressing.. Although, as a passionate Welshman, I live in hope!

"Not looking good for the boys in green

Paul O' Connells 2015 RWC is over and is due surgery on a severe hamstring injury... Not the way he wanted to end his international career! He's being replaced by Leinster's Mike Mc Carthy

actually the one thing ireland just happens not to be short of is not bad 2nd row'ers... obviously not quite as good as POC... but you had henderson coming on... and McCarthy coming in is actually not a bad replacement...

i think SOB only got one week because they kinda understood why he would do it... (backstory being Pape got 12 weeks for a deliberate strike with his knee to SOB's back in the 6 nations... and put SOB out till weeks before this tourny started)"

Very true

I don't think rugby is quite the same when the internationals are not playing... i tried watching some french "top 14" last week and it didn't feel right...

saying that... might watch some Aviva Premiership now the england boys will be back in club colours!!!! "

Having just watched Ulster's dismal efforts (against Edinburgh) I agree with you!

i'd give wales a punchers chance this afternoon against the boks.... i think this will the most physical game of the world cup we will have seen so far.......

it most interesting this may well be this is being reffed by wayne barnes..... so i'd expect a few in the bin....

then tonight... france against new zealand... being reffed by nigel owens.... so expect where he can a more open free flowing game.... they may will suit the all blacks....

Luckily for some, as We All know my picks are nearly always wrong.

4 Games and my predictions are as Follows

Wales to Beat SA

NZ to beat France by 20+

Argentina to beat Ireland(Don't shoot me Bold Girl )

Wallabies to stroll past the Scots.

Hopefully All 4 games will be entertaining. And good luck to All the 4 home Nations......Ooops, Sorry the 3 Home Nations still in it

Can I just state I'm saying what I think may happen. Not what I want to happen.

Year after year The Pumas are the most underrated team.I was in Paris in 2007 when the Irish were expected to glide past the Argentinians.

Sadly I had a very long Eurostar home after they didn't

I'm still not convinced Sexton is 100% either.Time will tell

I'll put a lot of money on no Argentinian getting a tackle against Sexton; now that he's off the team! I still think 10 points +

actually in a weird way that may not be the worst thing.... ireland don't need the magic at 10 tomorrow, what they need at 10 is more of a game manager... and madigan (and paddy jackson) are good at that

Would agree with that Fabio, but the one concern would be if it comes down to a kick fest(ie Pens) Madigan isn't anywhere near as good as Sexton.

am looking forward to the wales vs SA game... the back row forward battle is going to be epic and brutal.....

whoever get penalised around the ruck and the loose for slowing down the ball is going to be at a serious disadvantage... and barnes isn't slow at getting out the yellow for messing around at the ruck

its not... it is still more of a college game... and there is an effort to get american football players who don't cut it at the highest level to give rugby a go instead...

at 7's level there has been more of an encouragement now its an olympic sport... and they aren't that bad....
