Ok....

so who has already spent a fortune on trying to keep warm ?

Energy cost are the biggest rip off since eve tried selling adam a "pair" .

And im a little disgruntled about it to be honest

Mines been about £40 per month for gas, and £20 for electric. More than normal but less than expected, but hey I am a tight arsed guy from yorkshire.

Check the meter reading is right also, may be over estimating you. Direct Debit people, watch out they are not taking to much out. They are slow to put it back!

Side note, also check your rads are working/balanced properly, can really keep the house a lot warmer with less gas!

i seem to recal mr camarmoron saying in his manifesto that if petrol prices rose to a high level he would cut the tax on it to bring the price down.this will be proved to be yet another uturn from a party that couldnt beat a labour party that was dead on its feet.

Working in the industry I can give everyone these tips

1 Have your gas and electric through the same supplier

2 Pay by monthly DD

3 Go on an internet tariff.

NEVER sign up to anyone on the doorstep or in a shopping center.

If you want the best tariff for you, ask your current supplier how many KWH you used in the last year and go on any price website to find the best deal for you.

Fuel bills is one of my bug bears too. Theyt jack the prices up when the cost of gas/oil rises but don't drop the price when the price of gas/oil drops. I'll happily wade through all the websites etc looking for the best deal and switch regularly if a better one is available.

We did this a few months ago and the deal we're on is still better than any new deal out there so we'll be staying with Sainsbury's for the foreseeable future.

it costs me nearly £600 to get a full tank of LPG (LPG not being regulated et al) and it will last me approx 6-8 weeks in this weather.

the other week I paid my £600, to BP (who make a personal assurance that they never leave anyone with fuel for less than 8 hours) and was left for ten days without heat....with excuse after excuse for not delivering (one being the weather, though they managed to deliver to my neighbour!).

I had to buy 3 personal electric heaters @ £20 each...adding another £60 plus the cost of running them.

yup, fuel bills are ridiculous!

i'm getting one put in, but there is no way it would heat the whole of my home...but i figure if i lost fuel again, at least i'd have some resource!

Our gas just gone up by 9.4%..... wankers!!!!!

Mind you, our bill for the next year is only going to be about £684 based on an average from the last two years, so not too bad.

Fekkin 'ell.... our monthly average for gas is £13.50 a week for gas, and about £10 a week leccy..... £95 quid total for the month.... and I think we can cut that with some improvements in insulation etc...... we must be doing summat right!!!

If that is mains gas then you seriously need to get that restructured....I live in a large house and our bill is at least a third, maybe more cheaper than that.

I'm all electric here so it's storage heaters and panel heaters. I pay £42 a month DD (I think lol) but that's for everything, lighting, hot water cooking etc.

Luckily it evens itself out over the year, generally the heating goes off around about March/April and doesn't come on again until November.

This year though I've had more heating on than usual (additional panel heaters), so I expect it to go up a bit although luckily EDF have promised to freeze (pun intended) their prices until march.

i wouldnt be without my coal fire its a pain cleaning out but nothing beats it when its lit im quite good now that i can keep it in for 3 / 4 days before it needs a compleate clean out , i just couldnt afford to have all storage heaters on

For people on benefits or on low income you can apply for a social tarriff for both electric and gas. This tarriff is not made available very often, you should contact your energy supplier to find out how much you can save

We got a letter from NPower yesterday. It informed us that prices were going up by 5 1/4% in january, but for fairness sake they are bound by law to let us know that if we don't like it, we can change companies!!

Well hoopy fuckin do! Thats like saying out of the frying pan and into the fire. They are all money grabbing bastards, out to screw us for every penny they can get.

I just recently exchanged my pay as you go gas meter for a normal meter as I had been paying £30-£40 a week in gas to heat my 3 bed terrace house. It's extortionate! Apparently they charge more for pay as you go gas! Hopefully I won't be paying out as much now!
