"Excellent thread. Thank you Diamondsmiles, these threads of yours are always incredibly helpful. While I'm here I may as well ask if anyone has any experience, positive or negative, of agomelatine? Trade name Valdoxan." I'm sure someone will be able to help, there is a lot of new drugs on the market the last few years that I have no knowledge off, all my medication is old drugs, but as they seem to have got the combination right they won't change mine. I do have an appointment with a mental health facilitater this week, I've never seen one before, its a new system they are using here and they will be the half way person . There is all new changes coming in next April, Derby, hull and a couple of other authorities have already implemented them, it won't really affect me, but will for new people, from what I know once you get your diagnosis you will be referred to the person best to deal with you instead of seeing a standard psychiatrist or whoever will be your key worker, you will see someone for your individual needs, eg eating disorder specialists

"It took 5 years to get my doses right and again they wont change mine. I have eplim, propanalol and quitiapene. If anyone ever needs a chat about anything, I am always about." I'm on epilim as well (sodium valporate) they tried to change my brand and I was violently sick on all the others, I actually have mine in powder form as I have to take so many a day and they are a pain to take. How do you get on with quitiapene? I refused to take it after a month as I gained two stone, and ate myself out of house and home

"Good post, seen many people with poor mental health, awareness and understanding is half the battle " there is lots more for family and friends now, my mum is my saviour and I've always had 100% support from her but she has been on a couple of courses now and also people that work in certain public sector jobs have the opportunity to go on courses as well, so they have a better understanding on dealing with the public with mental health problems

As I say to anyone who asks, these companies have to publish the findings of any tests in the registration dossier's which usually covers how the chemicals interact with other chemicals and potential side effects. Hope this helps, and hope you get back on your feet lovely one Thank you diamondsmiles for posting this on today of all days. I'm still reeling from some mentally disturbing imagery I endured yesterday. Pretty annoyed and emailed a few people to complain so is all under control. Need to get in contact with a few friends and see how they're doing because things have been tough for them too lately. I was supposed to be watching out for them and checking their progress a while back, but I've been remiss in enquiring since they finished their courses in emotional management. Cheers for reminding me. Hope everyone has a good day today. Big hugs for everyone

"What I find fantastic is my friend cannot open up in person, and her team support her online, which as helped her massively, they can't be faulted plus it helps she reached out to us (I say us, my ex is with her now and yes she's still my best friend), she may not discuss it with us much (well she does him but again only by message but it's HER way) " well that's bloody brilliant to here, that she finds a way that is really helping, people have to remember that there isn't a one solution for all, different things work for different people, thanks for putting that positive post on

This was the beginning of my downward spiral & my rock bottom came with the very sudden end of my marriage 2 years later. "Thank you for a good forum thread diamond, there seems to be quite a few folk with some mh issues here. My wife uses swinging/bdsm as a way of coping with the ups & downs of bi-polar,is anyone else like that?. I'm still trying to understand it all, it makes a lot of sense though as to how she has been. She had to give up work, employer was bullying. Has anyone had any joy claming benifits when you cant work....thanks for any help,(him) " your best to go to the citizens advice bureau, there is the means tested EMA ( I think it's called) and then there is pip and I don't think that's means tested but obviously you have to fit the criteria, but citizens advice are very good

The thing people have most trouble understanding about mental health problems, is that they don't understand.

"Just remember you're not alone there's a million people who've been in your place, not your situation but similar, it's terrifying to talk about it but if you can surmount that hurdle even with a total group of strangers on the Internet you can then talk and belive me it gets a thousand times easier with every time you talk. An Internet forum I posted on when I was in my darkest hour is the place that saved my life (literally in one case when a member turned up at my door on a. Night sintered to end it and took me to hospital) I know when you're there its almost impossible to see the light but when you talk it will make things easier, it's like someone offering a hand to carry the bag you don't always realise how much you need it till they take hold x" you are lovely (sometimes)

"I hope that all who suffer with mental health problems get the help they deserve and there is better understanding for all. These threads highlight the amount of people with mental health problems on this site, just like any cross section of society. I'll admit to being concerned as to whether people here are swingers who enjoy the pastime of recreational sex as a hobby rather than being in a mania cycle and experiencing hypersexuality. I worry about vulnerability and the ability to not take risks which could be dangerous. This post is meant with no offence to anyone with mental health issues. " now I'm going to agree with you about the hypersexuality, but first I will say hypersexuality can be an illness on its own without any other mental illness being diagnosed and also not everyone with a mental illness has hypersexuality, there are people on here that profess to be sex addicts and I'm not denying some are but its nowhere near as many that actually say it. I've experienced hypersexuality, I wasn't on any swinging sites at the time, it was before I had access to the internet, I'm ashamed to say some of the things I did, but I took enormous dangerous risks, IF I had been on a swinging site I'm convinced I wouldn't have put myself in such dangerous situations, I would of gone to clubs, had meets from here and although I would probably had at least three meets a day there would be more chance of finding out the guys via here than how I was doing it, so I think hypersexuality is dangerous its not that common on here

"For those with depression, of over 20 years of therapy and treatments, can't recommended CAT (Cognitive Analytic Therapy) highly enough. It's rewired my brain and helps with daily coping like nothing else. Took a long time to get on the list but so worth it. Stay strong y'all " I'm in for cbt this week start my first session
