Karen isn't and it will be the 1st time in 26 years we have been together that she has taken xmas day off. Only because she had an op on her knee and can't walk properly or she'd be at work, wild horses wouldn't keep her from being there on xmas day!

i'm really lucky i only work 1 night shift a week and 4 hours every other weekend.

when that night falls on xmas eve i just work it a different night cant spend all of xmas day in bed

i dont mind if my night falls on boxing day as the kids are in bed by the time i leave.

if my night falls on nye i have the option to work or again do a different night

and my weekend hours well if they happen to fall on any of the above days i just agree to do different hours for them.

because i care for terminally ill children their parents or careers prefer to spend those days with their children themselves and get a break a different time ..

We have a network freeze over the xmas period that prevents us from working on the network (Virgin). We have to save 10 days out of annual leave to cover the freeze but it means a nice long break in December.

He works in a secure unit for young adults with severe challenging behaviour

A worthwhile career but that's some really unsociable hours they've got him doing. I hope he's getting a nice overtime rate for it.
