I genuinely do think this is a wonderful gesture ... but seriously do you expect some of the dickheads and fruit-loops on here to take notice of "for crimbo thread only please".

I would hate to see your act of kindness and compassion abused by planks.

I agree with the above and take my hat off to a couple who have such compassion for others and are willing to sift the wheat from the chaff. Good for you and I hope you have a fantastic Christmas and a wonderful new year

hugs n kisses

I want to say "how lovely" but I can't, what springs to mind is are you NUTS?!!

Do you read these threads where people have turned up uninvited etc?!! No good deed goes unpunished, opening your home to people you don't know via a site like this is not something I would contemplate.

I hope your kindness doesn't come back to bite you

I feel the same as bert and becky.

Hate to see anyone on their own over the xmas period but would as a single fem ...only invite to call round those who i already know .

I really really hope that if you do have visitors.?

That they turn out to be nice ones

You have to ask yourself why a few (not all but a few) of them are on their own.... especially when they have parents and siblings who are alive and local..... fuck me, if their own family don't want them around, you've got to wonder.

Back of Beyond

What a fantastical thoughtful gesture at this time of year.

Kind of like Samaritans for the swinging community.

On the one hand we hope no-one is lonely enough to take you up on the offer, but on the other, think its great that there is somebody there to catch them if they do.

Nothing ever that black and white.....my kids are away for the first time this year and I'm not spending it with family as I don't want to be the one sat there ruining it for everyone else by being miserable and them all doubling up efforts to cheer me up.

Don't assume folk aren't wanted.

Sometimes the company of strangers is preferable.

Nice to see folk still are capable of embracing the generosity of the Christmas spirit.

It is a lovely and kind gesture but I certainly wouldnt do it ever. Its just too risky. Anyone could call and give you a sob story and you invite them around and they could do anything to do. You need to think first about your own and your families safety above all else.

Its an incrediably kind gesture, I do applaud you for the thought but we cant all save the world unfortunately - hugs to you both though, what lovely people

This post does acknowledge ' ( not all but a FEW ) are not wanted.

If everyone had Christmas spirit then Christian churches would be overflowing, carol singers would be greeted warmly, people would congregate , share food make sure each other were warm. The types who do such things are usually reviled as some sort of religous tree hugging freak all year round so why we are all expected to have their lifestyle manifest itself in us on December 25th is a mystery.

We eat we drink we give as little as possible to those we don't get from and children complain if they don't get what they demanded.

I like Christmas cos I get a day off work and there are parties n laughs. It's too good for Christians. I'm gonna patent that motto.
