Today I have submitted an official complaint about the postie. Not our usual one but his relief.

Its a blonde woman and since the beginning of December we are sick of getting red cards through the door to go and pick up parcels from the sorting office.

One dropped on the doormat on saturday morning as I came down the stairs, it said-'too big for letterbox' on it. She never knocked or rang the bell. So I went outside and asked her for it. She then admitted she had left it in the depot and only brought out letters!

So today I travel the 2 miles to the sorting office to collect it, only to find on my return, another bloody red card on the doormat to go and collect another parcel!

I hope they really have a go at her, but I doubt it. Thankfully our normal postie is a gem of bloke.

a Primark shoebox in Leicester

I had a few red card through incidents...

One was blank... not saying if they would try again, left with neighbour or going back to the office.

The other was just being stuffed through my door as I was opening it to go out. No bell ring, nothing.... but that was because he didn't have the fecking parcel with him!

I double DARE any of you to phone the post office! I've tried it doesn't exist.

I have sliding glass doors. The letter box is to the right of them as you face the door. It's been there for more than 25 years.

I used to pick up my mail from the floor. I got wary when I thought ' These bank statements could go missing. Anyone can see them through the glass door.

I bought a cage/basket to catch all my mail as it drops through the letter box. Guess what

I still pick my mail up from the floor. the bastard opens my sliding doors n chucks it in....

I used to work for the post office many moons ago and my first job was as a relief for other posties going on holiday. I asked one guy what I needed to know about his 'walk'. He got quite defensive and said, "Just do it like they've taught you, mate." Ok, fair enough, and that's precisely what I did. I took my first mail out at 7am, delivered that and went back for my second mail (this was when we HAD a second delivery, so I am going back a few years). I delivered a letter on my second run and a few minutes later a little old lady came out and caught up with me. She said, "Excuse me, Mr. Psotman, but when did the Royal Mail start doing second deliveries again?"

"They've never stopped them, Madam," I replied.

"Well, we haven't had one for seven years!" she said.

"Here's my sorting office phone number, Madam, please do ring them and complain, loudly." says I.

hehehehehehe..

A couple of weeks later the original postie came back and stormed up to me, face fuming, steam coming out of his ears. "What the fuck did you do to my walk, you twat!"

"Did it by the book, now fuck off." I replied.

Apparently, the woman did complain, and he got a written warning. He was lucky, he'd been taking his second mail home with him all these years and incorporating it into his first mail the next morning. He could have gone to jail for that.

Who in Liverpool is gonna nick a letter? All the robbers can't fookin read and if it hasn't got the BMX logo down the side of it they ain't interested anyway.

It's true that a few posties pull this trick cos I have had cards when I have been in and they have not rung or made any effort as my porch door is always open so parcels can be left inside if I am out. Depends on the postie.

I have also had stuff stolen in the post. A couple were kind enough to post me a bracelet I had left at their home and I never got it and a watch sent by recorded delivery also went missing. I was unable to claim for either of these items as they were not covered.

naaaa I tried, it only covers paperwork and suchlike. I didn't know that. To send a valuable you need to used registered post (apparently). I agee about the trust, was a time when things would rarely go missing. They use a lot of temps these days and thinking maybe they don't have as much committment to the job.

Well i didn't know that at all. I thought they would cover you for theft but it looks like they don't care. No wonder they are not doing so well.

One morning I found my postie lying on next doors front lawn asleep. letters strewn all over.

Absolutely shit faced.

When I tried to wake him he was well pissed off I'd interrupted his slumber.

I felt like putting his post bag over his head and kicking his face in, but thankfully I'm more easy going than that... ish.

As a former postman, it wouldn't be so bad if everyone would chill out about the post and accept that they'll receive it at any time of the day, but everyone moans when they don't receive by a certain time so you have to take short cuts like putting things through sliding doors if they're unlocked.

I never did the fake attempted delivery though, but you're bag is so full sometimes that all the packets don't fit it, so if you could go up and down a road with the post and then go up and down the road with parcels seperately it'd be much better.

But it'd take longer and then you'd have people moaning because they got their delivery at 1:30pm and not half 10.

HaHaHa. A postie going on about round delivery's. Ours is quite often delivered anytime up to 3pm on any day of the week. Gone are the days it was there before breakfast. It never ever arrives before 10.30 in the morning. I'm not complaining about delivery times. I'm complaining the twats DON'T deliver it at all.

We pay to have it delivered to the door, yet have to make a 4 mile round trip to pick up parcels ourselves. Makes a mockery of the £4 to £10 delivery charges we have paid recently.

I must be one of those lucky people who has a gem of a postie, if I'm not there he leaves the post/parcels behind the door in the vestibule or if it needs signed for gets a neighbour to do it and sticks a card in saying where he's left it.

Mind you it's such a small village I live in, everyone knows your business without the need to read your mail!

I thought on some of these cards you can go to a page on the royal mail website and request another delivery day. Of course this may be only for certain types of deliveries.

Its usually why I get stuff posted to work now.

Some posties are very good but some are real skivers. A mate of mine had to run some of the sorting offices down south and many of the staff would turn up sign on then sod off. When he tried to sort this out the unions where just crap and obstructive.

Its sad because the hard working ones get abuse for it.

I can't see how the volume of mail has increased since I was a postie so I can only assume that they've merged 'walks' and got rid of surplus postmen.

EIGHT bags? Even at Christmastime that's a fookin heavy post.

Must have been when they reduced it to one post a day, because there's no way you could of done two of them walks a day. Average of 550 to 600 houses on the walks when I was doing it in bham a couple of years ago.

Surely he's told by his bosses what time to deliver, just like the binmen were told to cut down to one collection, and if its not in the correct bag to leave it. Rather pay the price of a stamp than my friggin council tax. Robbing fukkers!!!

i live in a rural area and our post is delivered by van, i can not falt my postman or the postal service in general.

He is there around the same time everyday, maybe a little later this time of year as im sure most peoples are, if a parcel is being delivered and we are out he will leave to round the back of the house, and if it needs signing for he will make a second stop on his way back after hes finished.

But i use the royal mail for recieving and also posting out a lot, sometimes gauranteed by 10am delivery Parcel Force and 99% of the time it is there.

I have tryed using other couriers such as DHL, fed Ex, and couple of others, although they do the job it is not as straight forward and certainly not better than the post office in my view.

The Post office do a great job

We love our postman.

He's the most cheerful fella and always has a big smile.

The dog hates him and goes bananas when he hears the van outside but that never slows him down.

Thumbs up for the post office.
