This will sound ridiculous to most of you but I'm awfully proud of myself today.

I got the train in to London.I'm only 30 mins from Waterloo but I'm so phobic I reckon I must have been less than 6 times in the last 30 years.

Proudest moment? Hailing and riding a London taxi all by myself - twice! That's the first London taxi I've ever travelled in. Man, those things are expensive but it saved me riding the tube!

That's a challenge for another day!

Hats off to those of you who do it every day. I'm staying in my Surrey village!!

Excellent work!

It's a scary place, when I returned to London after 10 years in Northumberland, I realised how much I hate crowds

You can be very pleased with that

Well done, I can understand your phobia worked in London for many years, but find it too crowded and noisy these days.

Well done you!

I think it's tricky to explain a phobia so that people who don't suffer one just how mammoth an achievement is. Especially when it seems such an ordinary, every day occurance for most people. You're right to be proud! Be proud all day long. Facing your fear can be terrifying. Go you! x

There's an 'understand' missing from there! Haha... that'll teach me to proof read!

Well done OP

Find the place and travel daunting still, too busy, and from living in a market town it's quite a change.

Amazing, I'm with you, it's far to busy for me also, get very nervous at the thought

NW London

London can feel a bit manic and fast at times but it's my home and I love it like that, even though the tube can be a giant sardine can at times. Try travelling between 9:30am and 4:00pm weekdays- it's out of rush hour and there will be a lot more space. You might even get a seat!!

Just where I need to be.

Well done that is great to hear.I know how you feel. I actually flew to Manchester last weekend rather than get a train and change and use tube in London. My next trip I will use the train and tube.I have plenty of time to do a precise military plan.My problem is I have a terrible sense of direction and I easily get lost.
