When we first got here someone said something about "Taking the Micky" and we just could not understand what the hell that meant. Seriously. We were thinking Micky Mouse or something. Nothing made sense.

So we looked it up. From there, we found a list of weird things British people say and how they differ from what Americans say, so we knew from that moment the fanny distinction.

"Sorry Courtney

I thought of you when reading an article from the Metro online where an American who had visited England did a list of the cultural differences between the two countries.

I think he must have discovered Fab because he put "cake is one of the major food groups" in England

I read that. I particularly liked the point about Europeans dressing better than English people who dress better than Americans. I don't see any Americans around my way that I know of but the Europeans do dress much better.

See, I like that I can dress like a bum in the US and no one will judge me. When I went back to NYC for holiday recently I wore sweat pants most of the time and I loved it. "

You can find things to do with children in New York no matter the age. There are lots of free museums too and things to do outside

Though I would avoid the summer and the winter as children would likely complain about the weather. Go in spring or fall.

You can't equate a pub with a restaurant. They're different venues for different purposes.

Although some pubs do have a restaurant and some restaurants do have a bar.

Exactly, though. That is why I will miss it in the US. They don;t have anything like it there. But a restaurant is a closer description for a pub than a bar. At least to an American

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Courtney, should I pack anything revealing for my trip to Edinburgh?

Well, this is where it gets complicated. He was born in Alabama and lived there for 5 years. Then his military dad was posted to Bavaria where he stayed for 8 years, but then his English Mum insisted they move to Yorkshire. So he's been here 23 years and his accent is pretty muddled. Definitely sounds American, just not specific to an area.

"Courtney!! COURTNEY!! Marc's escaped from the attic! I don't know how, but he's got free. Let me know if you need a hand in locking him back up

If I say yes, will you come over?

I'm wearing just my undies and socks as I'm about to head to bed but I can come over if you insist "

That sounds sexy I'll let you go to bed, though....this time

I'm travelling light so there is a shoe dilemma. Walking boots and a baby-doll may not go together.

Go shoe-less with the baby-doll...I assume this would be indoors? Sandals are also pretty light weight.

Could you enlighten me on why Americans seem to be addicted to... Gun massacres while just north Canadians, with just as many guns, seem to be able to avoid shooting each other!

Is it because the greatest country that ever lived (Britain), held on to Canada and instilled "proper values"
