If you saw someone you thought may be transvestite or transgender on the street and they were being hassled or attacked, how would you react/get involved, and would it be different to if they were presented as their birth gender?

I would react to anyone being hassled/attacked on the street. Distracting the assailants, calling for help.............depending on the severity of the situation.

No... I'd step in regardless. I wouldn't consider age/gender/race... I don't like mean people who bully others so I'd pipe up anyway as I'd hope would other people.

But I would intervene in any situation where someone was being victimised...

I don't distinguish between who deserves help in a situation like that...

I've gotten myself into some rather nasty situations wading in to protect a random stranger.

You need to access the situation and judge what's best.

I would like to think I would help any human being ... being attacked. I'm not particularly interested in drilling down any deeper into what or who they are.

I usually get my friend Mark (who is a ninja) to sort these things out though.

I would definitely get involved and I'm a lady. Everyone deserves to be allowed to be exactly how they want to be. No one has the right to tell you what and how to behave or to make fun of you or mistreat you so i would be probably twatting them lol.... hitting them with my handbag whilst giving them a piece of my mind lol....

I have used distraction on more than one occasion. saw someone being dragged across a car park one evening. I drove my car to the front of the pub, headlights into the pub, pressed my horn. Folks came running out of the pub....job done.

More than once when I have seen a woman been hassled by men, I pretend to know them, shouting a fictional name VERY loudly, with something like 'I turned round and you were gone. Come on, let's finish.....' they usually cotton on, other people then stare..........we walk off.

Not the same but I saw a domestic dispute a couple of months ago - she was on the floor & he was kicking the hell out of her. I was in my car so safe - shouted at him to stop, called him a vile bully & called the police. I couldn't have helped her anymore than I did. He was a huge man, I think he was d*unk too & I don't doubt he'd have started on me.

I'm not as scared as I used to be but I know my limits.

I don't care who the person is, they still have a heart & feelings

One evening, we're watching telly when we hear SCREAMING on the corridor. Rush to see what it was and it was the little girl, crying her eyes out screaming "Daddy's beating mummy".

And I went in the flat and there was blood up the fucking hallway, like out of a horror movie.

And this cunt had her pinned on the couch and was beating seven shades of shit out of her.

I didn't know what to do.

I just shouted at him to stop, and he saw me and ran off.

Ambulance, police, social services.

Fuck.

Whatever it is, don;t do nothing.

I did it in New York... I was in Union Square just watching people and I had my massive lens on my camera. There was a bit of a thing going on with a young school lad, maybe 16 ish, and an older bloke covered in tattoos. There were a whole load of people there, kids playing, people walking by and this thug had the lad by the scruff of the neck. I'd been taking photos from afar but seeing pretty close up so it was clear to me that it wasn't a friendly chat. I didn't really think twice, which given the U.S. gun laws I probably should have done but I just barged in between and asked the boy if he was okay.

The older lad just stared at me like I was some sort of mental with a giant camera and walked away rapid style. Afterwards I thought about it and considered maybe it wasn't the smartest move on my part but if I'm honest, I'd do it again.

I'm really bad for this and acting without thinking. I've chased down a bag theft, broken up multiple fights and other stuff that you'd recommend others not to get involved in. But when there's a problem you just react and help if that's the way you are made.

You'd be surprised how little it takes, especially if you are able to stay calm yourself.

Plus the feeling you get the following morning when you realise you're the sort who runs towards, rather than away from, a burning building is priceless.

yes, have stepped in before on more than one occasion and got a clump which gave me a black eye (that one did get me a bollocking as i didn't see the maggot and he could have had a glass like his mate i was stopping hurt someone)

even went out in the street in just a towel when i saw a guy slap a woman, bit cold..

too many people stand by and do nothing when something even shouting will have an effect, having said that assess the risk first..

That mean if you saw a normal bloke getting hassled by other blokes would you intervine or would you only do it if they were presenting as a woman and so more "vuberable".

A lot of people may say something if a woman or a child is being hassled nor attacked but very few will stand up for a man.

We would both always help and if anything were bad for acting without thinking.

When I was a single mum I lived in a flat in a dodgy area- I looked out my window and saw some lads beating another lad up. I didn't think I ran down stairs and confronted them. Luckily it scared them away but when I think about what could of happened and I had left my son sleeping in the flat.

Paul gave chase after a someone stole money from where he was working. He caught up with her and she had some glass in her hand and slit his wrist- he was lucky it just managed to miss a artery. Has a scar now all these years later.

So safe to say whatever the age race sex or orientation we would always tackle wrong doing.

I know a couple who fight nearly overtime they are out.... it usually kicks off and she is worse than him.

People often get involved, the guys fight and she then backs her husband up and they go home together and the person who got involved is left battered and bruised
