I adore pickled herring (Rolmop). Poles pickle pretty much anything (I'm sure we'd pickle pickles if we could), one of my favourite is pickled mushrooms.

Cockles n muscles,pickled onions and pickled eggs are all very tasty....chillied pickled eggs sound interesting.

Can remember being about 10 years old visiting family in Newcastle.I was eating a jar of muscles n asked my uncle(a proper old school blokey bloke)why some of them had hair on them.

My great granny n aunties were all horrified as he proceeded to explain to my young ears that the hairs were really pubes!....the muscles themselves were fannies which women evolved from by sprouting arms n legs n a body n head....all graphically explained in a thick geordie accent!

That's one birds n bees talk I'll never forget.....

Pickled mushrooms is a new one on me. .. .not sure i fancy it, but for research purposes feel i must source some. ...where might i find such a thing?

Polish deli's or possibly the world food isle of some supermarkets.

Or my kitchen cupboard...
