Thought id ask on here as i get quicker responses.

I'm hoping someone on here does ebay selling, enough to not work elsewhere.

Due to health reasons im trying to find something i can do from home.

Struggling to find the right products to sell and finding the right suppliers.

Any tips, if you prefer to keep your secrets away from everyone send me a pm. Or if you have any other suggestions of work from home, let me know, thanks.

A friend of mine buys make up and sells on eBay.

Doesn't do it full time but makes a few hundred quid a month from it. He's all above board and had an accountant etc.

I've started going to auctions for stuff to re sell. Usually at least double my money......best I've done is 12.5 times my money back

Last few times I've bought I've done really well on.

Picked up six 1838 silver teaspoons for £8......most people don't know how to read hallmarks or just cant be bothered.

Same when I've bought furniture....people can't be arsed with the labour to transport etc so things go cheap. So far I've bought two dining table sets for a massive £14 and sold them on for £80

and that's letting them go cheap because I need the space.

thanks for the info. Did like the make up idea.

Was thinking of buying a set that sells a lot on ebay, then as my sister can do make up really well, make a tutorial video using that set.

Whether she will agree but then again she might want a percentage.

I can see a lot of stuff selling well, its finding the right suppliers as i dont have the luxury of going out to car boots etc.

There are loads of guides online about not only selling on ebay but becoming an online trader.

Your best bet in my opinion is to find a decent product or niche and order bulk goods from China via Alibaba or the like if you have a little capital.

I have a family member who does this. But she spends a lot of time out buying things at garage sales and on craigslist. How tied to the house are you? Able to go look for things or do you need to order stock to your house?

I think if you have a good eye and the time, you could do worse than going to TK Maxx. A 25%/30% mark up is not unreasonable for the right pieces.

If you are buying from Alibaba or the likes make sure you do the due diligence on the product, and make sure it is safe and carries all the approvals and certification required to sell it in the UK. Reference the recent threads on here about crap from China - Its the importers responsibility - not the supplier factory in the middle of somewhere in china

Ebay charges can start getting high. I used to make roughly £150 a week and on the forth week every month roughly £150 went on fees.

I would say list your items but also try Gumtree, and other sites on items you know that will sell easy, so hopefully they will sell before Ebay auction ends. Also Ebay are out to make money so are not always looking out for you. Also send items signed for, as a "few" say they never received the item and you HAVE to refund them and go through royal mail to claim your money back which can take upto 6 weeks. So basically if you buy a item for say £100 and it's sent through normal delivery you could say you never received it and get your £100 back. It's common sense that you get recorded delivery but you'd be surprised the amount that don't.

I have colitis and it seems to be getting worse so working from home is becoming more ideal. Lucky i still live with my parents but i want to be earning enough so i can move out.

Also lucky to have 25g in savings so buying stock isnt a problem.

Its choosing the right products really. I got a few things on sale at the moment from 360 games to a couple shirts which have over 30 people watching, be nice to know where the shop gets its supplies from.

This is quite funny actually, I've been ill with crohns for a few months now and have filled my time doing the exact same thing

But with 25k in the bank id be looking to buy a house to renovate or rent out instead of ebay

eBay is not as easy as it used to be. There are books and websites telling you how to do it.

The thing to remember is to factor in not just the cost of the item, but packaging materials, storage costs, postage, time spent making up parcels, time spent in the post office. Even if you use a courier, getting parcels ready and keeping good records takes time.

Then when you get a price look what others are selling the items for. Often you'll realise you can't compete on price.

But don't be put off totally, people can still be very successful on there if they get it right

Totally agree with the above post.

If I buy at auction get 15% commission charge

Then if I sell on eBay I'm charged 10% final value few

Then if it goes through PayPal it's 5%

That's 30% I've got to make just to cover buying and selling fees

Other than Ebay, any other suggestions to working from home.

Trying to create a much positive life for myself as stress is the worst thing for me, had some local office jobs and the stress there just caused me to be ill constantly.

At least from home id be in a less stressful place
