This one looks a good one to watch tonight, will you also tune into it? Freddie flinfof is presenter and 29 of the fittest men and women in the UK take part in gruelling tests used by some of the world's harshest army regimes, in a search to find the UK's toughest recruit, its on bbc2 9pm.

It's been a really good series. The agony and torture they've suffered is but a small snippet of what men go through during selection for special forces groups. Tonight's will be horrific as they're in the hands of our very own SAS and the former operator from said regiment will no doubt give them hell.

Watched part of the last episode - I find it a bit lame. The women were obviously deliberately kept in for the sake of good TV, after being found woefully lacking in terms of strength and endurance. Without the requisite physical capability, in real life they wouldn't have got past the first test.

So no, I won't be watching any more as I find it too contrived,

It's an entertainment show not a reality gig. Like you say, in reality......none of them would have passed the basic fitness tests or a couple of full days beastings.

I don't mind it being geared for entertainment, and I don't mind that it's not full on special forces type selection, just a taste. But the premise of the series is to select the best, oh, of course, unless they need to keep someone in the show, for the purposes of maintaining ratings.

Damn! I've been watching the series and forgot it was on. Shag can always be relied upon to alert for tv stuff. I need a Shag at home. Not been onsite till hours after it finished. Catchup it is I guess.

She was on Radio 4 earlier. She came across very well.

What was rather skipped over in the discussion of the interrogation is that each contestant knew that whatever happened there was a warm bed, a warm bath and some decent grub at the end - not a beheading on camera.

I daren't read this thread as I've not seen the final yet. I liked a few of the contestants. And trainers. Would have been fun competing.

How would you have got on Shag?

In training/ selection - yes.

In real life (or death) - no.

Obviously, no special forces training in the world is going to start beheading recruits just to make it seem more realistic.

However after week's of hard training, starvation, sleep and sensory deprivation the training will seem very very real.

So while it may not be life or death it will certainly seem like it.

Also don't forget these are civies who have had no military training, so these scenarios will be very real.

All of the last 6 were tough as I was surprised when Murphy bailed out coz she was pretty tough.

Listened to r4 as well

Miller is under no illusion that she could make sas selection.

But I am certain she would have a bloody good go at it tho.
