Cause people aren't purely rational?

People can pursue themselves it's OK to cheat but then still have feelings about it if they're on the other end of it.

Frankly though why if you found out your partner was cheating would you go and cheat in revenge?

Just leave them

Hey (hey)

I'm your life

I'm the one who takes you there

Hey (hey)

I'm your life

I'm the one who cares

They (they)

They betray

I'm your only true friend now

They (they)

They'll betray

I'm forever there

I'm your dream, make you real

I'm your eyes when you must steal

I'm your pain when you can't feel

Sad but true

I'm your dream, mind astray

I'm your eyes while you're away

I'm your pain while you repay

You know it's sad but true

Sad but true

You (you)

You're my mask

You're my cover, my shelter

You (you)

You're my mask

You're the one who's blamed

Do (do)

Do my work

Do my dirty work, scapegoat

Do (do)

Do my deeds

For you're the one who's shamed

I'm your dream, make you real

I'm your eyes when you must steal

I'm your pain when you can't feel

Sad but true

I'm your dream, mind astray

I'm your eyes while you're away

I'm your pain while you repay

You know it's sad but true

Sad but true

I'm your dream

I'm your eyes

I'm your pain

I'm your dream (I'm your dream)

I'm your eyes (I'm your eyes)

I'm your pain (I'm your pain)

You know it's sad but true

Hate (hate)

I'm your hate

I'm your hate when you want love

Pay (pay)

Pay the price

Pay, for nothing's fair

Hey (hey)

I'm your life

I'm the one who took you there

Hey (hey)

I'm your life

And I no longer care

I'm your dream, make you real

I'm your eyes when you must steal

I'm your pain when you can't feel

Sad but true

I'm your truth, telling lies

I'm your reason, alibis

I'm inside, open your eyes

I'm you

Sad but true

Yeah, I don't get that either. Also, it's surprising how many people say they would forgive a partner of cheating if their partner bought them a present or something

Are we talking about just a one night stand where it was just sex or an actual affair where emotions were involved?

"Are we talking about just a one night stand where it was just sex or an actual affair where emotions were involved?"

In my view this is a very good point that people tend to forget. I think there's a world of difference between the two and regard an affair as betrayal whereas lust on a one or two meeting basis as completely different. Of course they both hurt the partner but lust, whether or not it leads anywhere, is a normal human reaction.

For the record as a youngster I dumped a girlfriend when she had a one night stand but if similar had happened during the last 10 or so years my reaction would have been far more understanding and forgiving - unlike finding out about an affair.

"Why does a married man who gets caught out get upset when he's wife starts playing around for revenge?"

Loads of reasons. Many (not all) people who get caught out, men and women, will have justified their actions to themselves and often in terms of blaming their partner behaving in such a way as to make their cheating inevitable, some even couch it in terms of saving their marriage. When they discover their partner doing the same thing they have to apply the blame partly to themselves face up to the actual situation and the fact that it's a two way street.

Surely if one is looking elsewhere then they should be addressing the issues in their relationship or finishing the relationship instead of destroying each others world?
