Be careful of integrated rechargeable batteries, heard of quite a few have exploded when being charged.

I've got some MagicShine lights. They're good and bright (people give way at junctions) reasonable prices and well made (even though they're Chinese) and they have a uk distributor.

I use a One23 Extreme Bright DUO 2000 Front Light. 2000 lumens (yup, that is 2 thousand) means the darn thing is a bit like instant daylight.

it may say it is 5000 lumen - but not likely.

chinese often say it is something, but in truth it is something else.

as long as it is bright enough

One little warning, these high power LED lights are bright and get warm (which is why they are often odd shapes so as to dissipate the heat) but they also tend to be very focused. This means that though they may light the path directly ahead there can be a very sharp difference between their illuminated path and the area just to the side of it.

So it is often best to get one that uses multiple LEDs rather than single LEDs.

I've got USB rechargeable lights that I purchased direct from China. The led element is superb and the run time is good, however many low cost lamps have fragile mounting brackets. Pay a little more for good quality and consider using as many lights as possible

Go cheap or go very expensive!

If it's for urban wear high vis and cheap strobe lights.

If it's off road night you need the stuff costing £100's and they are brighter than most car headlights!

My lights are a similar brightness to my motorbike's headlight. They made a massive difference to my daily commute, drivers actually see you coming and assume that you're a "motor vehicle". It means that they actually give you space, wait at junctions and things like that.

Ankh Morpork

I got a usb rechargable one, its a moon light 200 lumens one from my local bike shop. Cost around £50, best light ive ever had, good range and changable functions.

A lot cheaper than battery ones in the long run.
