I am going in on the 8th October for an abdominal hernia opp, never had any kind of surgery and I don't mind admitting that I am shitting myself

It can be worrying I know. Mr N had this operation a few years back and was absolutely fine. Good luck

It's a very straightforward procedure, had it done myself a while back. In and out in the same day provided your on the table early enough. Painful for the first few days after but codeine is your friend......

Make sure they get you the right way round, you never know what might get removed.

You will be fine mate, when you go in a nurse will go through everything with you, she/he will put your mind at rest. Ask any questions then, regardless of how stupid they are.

Shave before you go mate. It was the first and last op I had done on the NHS. As an op goes though it's pretty standard.

I unfortunately have to have an OP every year or so I now try and beat the count to ten they make you do when they put you under. Never got beyond seven.

Good luck.

Fkk that sucks i had a pre-op last year, and afterwards, my op got cancelled 3 times last minute cause of 'no beds' . had the pre-op again a few days ago, so maybe this year I will get lucky and have the damn sorted!!

OP - you'll be fine (I absolutely LOVE going under!! which some people think is odd). Just take very good care of yourself afterwards and follow what they say to the letter, and as previously said - if you have any questions, write them down and ask - no matter how daft

((gentle hugs))

Who knew that a hernia complaint caused one to constantly defecate?

Listen to all the health care providers advice.

Don't think you are an invalid who can't potter around his/her own house & must stop in bed. Nothing strenuous but pottering to get a cuppa is not a bad thing. DVT's are the biggest post op concern & moving about helps prevent this.

I am to have a gynae op hopefully this year, my biggest fear? No sex for 6 weeks, balls to the Mister, how am i going to cope?

Find out if by no sex they mean no orgasms (whether penetration is specifically to be avoided, or all muscular contractions). or anal seriously.. ask.

If you do have to cold turkey, make sure hubby is well rested before the time is up - cause boy, is he gonna need it *pounce*
