Goodbye harriers

The harriers left cottesmore camp for the last time today. Everyone was out in the street watching them go over.

Bit of the end of an era here although i wont miss the bloody noise they used to make

could fly them off container ships if need be ,,, truly is the end of an era ,,i made an airfix model of one as a tot ,, think it was a P11 27 then

Jet noise-the sound of Freedom!

They are amazing planes and getting rid of them is crazy & sad.

I remember as an Air Cadet being at summer camp & really really close to one taking off as I lay in the grass, deafened me completely. The same at air shows-noisy but brilliant.

we lost a sea harrier pilot from our family 15 years ago .....he wasnt counted back in ...RIP MA ....with love

Exact same thoughts i had when i was a kid.

We were at a local air show shortly after the Falklands conflict had ended and the Harrier display was the main attraction.

Watching a Harrier vertically taking off and landing really was a sight to be seen.
