I find it peculiar that it seems to be that although the media portrays women being b the most concerned about body image, that is actually the men on fab who post most about how they look

There are more threads about hirsuteness, penile size, chunky monkey vs racing snake etc. Than there are about boobage, bingo wings and thread veins

It saddens me when I read about the increase of eating disorders and body image disorders among young men in recent years. Men get shit on when it comes to bombardment with images of unachievable (for most) body types too. So while the mainstream media would probably have us believe it's only women who care about body image, it applies to men just as much. "
yes it is a worry I know two young guys who killed themselves because of image one hung himself from a light fitting for his even younger flat mate to come and find him .

When women post about body worries they get fluffy virtual hugs. When men post similar they tend to get abuse or told to man up. It's shit. We are all human.

When I studied eating disorders which was over 20 years ago 10% of people diagnosed where men or more accurately young men.

Some people are influenced by what they see in the media, people asspire to be like certain people.

I have no idea how this can change.

Although we have along way to go we see more of a diversity in the public eye, more disabled people, are on our televisions, more envasise on "average looking people" more larger people cast in serious roles and not just seen as the comedy star.

I've seen this slow change over the last decade, I hope we can come much further and much quicker.

Someone said something I found interesting the other day (yes I pay attention sometimes) about fairy stories and how the women are beautiful and small and the men all handsome princes, we can't rewrite these stories but we can try and get people to understand these are fantasies.

Everyone should be told they are beautiful, parents are our only influences at an early age, then body confidence /physical ability confidence should be addressed in schools, be proud to be you (well in my ideal world)

Could be because the media ignores them so they have to bring this stuff up themselves?

Plus on here they're getting rejected a lot and this might make them questions themselves.

Tbh women seem to have got to the point where they just don't give a shiot any more, been told so often what is supposed to be attractive that they've rebelled and are saying enough is a fucking 'nuff.

This is why it really pisses me off when women and couples are rude when they reject men. Be nice, treat people how you would want to be treated! Even if the rejection isn't for a nice reason just be tactful.

It's not nice getting rejected in a rude way. Women and couples whine about it when they get such messages. Have some fucking empathy.

let them be rude, it allows others to see them for what they are.

it may very well be the best thing they can do for the person they are being rude to, he can be reassured that a decision to not take anything forward is the best for him.

I think that there is greater internalized pressure that many guys have on Fab. This is partly due to a mismatch in the results many expect to get and the eventual reality for many.

There has been growing amounts of body dimorphia amongst guys in recent years, reflecting more pressure that guys assume now.

As younger males may increasingly feel a lack of control over their lives, uncertainty about the role of men today, their focus can become more obsessive upon their body. Their bodies are an aspect of themselves they can feel able to control and that it is important to do so - due to cultural emphasis upon our looks.

With swinging we also open people up to being _iewed naked by more people than in standard sexual settings. Guys joining couples or at swinging clubs and parties expose themselves in very different circumstances than just the missus with the lights out, on a Saturday if he's lucky.

We are an interesting sub-culture for my Australian research.
