There must be other reasons people do this. We get random friend requests all the time, but we have ZERO friends pics.

I used to think it was for pics. Now I think some see it like Facebook. It's a button they press to ask if they can be your friend. I find it odd that they think a button works better than actually mailing someone though. But I don't think it's malicious. They really do just want to be friends.

Another reason I've noticed is that they are the ones with the friends only pics- they want you to see their pics. And presumably hope you will be attracted and mail them. So it's actually quite open of them.

I would never add a friend unless I have mailed them beforehand and there was some discussion

Rant over? Not quite- can I add something? Why do we get friend requests from people who clearly don't even read our profiles????

We also still get friend requests from people we haven't spoken to. Shows they don't even read our profile, just want to see the friend only pics.

We only accept friends requests after we have met that person, if they want to see what we look like we will send a photo privately , but only if they send one first. We never randomly send them to other people.

I've had women send me friends requests (when I was on here before) without messaging before hand; I accepted them but when I messaged them I never received a reply.

So deleted and blocked

I sometimes think the folk sending them are after collecting as many names as possible... A sort of "look how popular I am... "

If anyone wants to be my friend. Ask away.. I'm really really popular you know..

Oddly enough I had a friend request out of the blue this morning. It was from someone who didn't message or have any other contact with me so it just got deleted.

On our private photos we have our face pictures. A lot of people want to see your face pictures, but not show theres! It can get very annoying. Once a guy asked for a meet, we said we would consider it if he sent a face picture but he claimed to be in the police force and had to be discreet. We just laughed and imagined him turning up with a brown paper bag over his head

I lowered the number of requests when I removed all friends-only pics, so some of them are likely to be pic needy people.

I find it really bizarre that people - and it's usually guys - assume that you'll just click to add some unknown person as a friend. I often send them a wink, if I've never heard from them and they seem reasonably local and ok: it can spark some feedback but doesn't usually, unless they're asking if I'll accept their friend request, never explaining why I might be remotely interested in them.

I only send friend requests after chatting. I do see it as friends. And I try to keep in touch. Has no relation to whether we will meet ir not. I've met two out of my 14 friends. I'll have a look at friends only pics of course, and I'll fab then. And conversely they get to see my pathetic winky lol

It doesn't bother me in the least - it's no skin off my nose accepting someone. If they want to see more pics of me, then congrats on their good taste/insanity....

I agree a that the majority of people are sending requests just to see your pics, on the other hand there are other reasons for this.

I add people so that they can see my pics rather than the other way around. If they see anything they like then they can get in touch either by messaging or even winking/ fabbing a pic.

I don't see why this offends anyone, if you don't want friend requests, just don't look at them?

If you are on an iPad using the desktop site, it's quite easy to hit the Friend Request by accident when you are adding someone to the Hot List. Maybe that's it?

Brighton - even Hove!

I add people as friends on here and with some of them, I message quite a lot and some never talk to me again. I might have a clear out of people who don't actually want to talk to me.

As for finding someone to be a real life friend - Christ, I've been looking for about 6 months now via my profile and the total number of people who have ever asked about being real life friends has been zero.

Had one today funnily enough, a lady who sent us a friend request a few months ago whom we added then deleted when she failed to say anything.

She sent a wink and friend request this morning so we added her to see if the same happened again. It did...we deleted her again.

If it's somebody hoping to find hardcore pics in our private photos they will have been sorely disappointed. We prefer not to post anything too raunchy, just our faces and body shots with clothes on. Leave the rest up to the imagination or for if they meet us in the flesh

I did this yesterday but sent a message apologising and explaining...never seen point in sending random friend requests.

Easily done by mistake though as you say...and I wasn't even on an ipad was usual mac!
