This really makes me horribly paranoid about going to any gym. It's bad enough when you're body conscious and plonk yourself in beside all the buff people who make it all look so easy cause they're just there to keep fit rather than lose weight. It's bad enough that you're sweating buckets and really trying hard not to draw attention to yourself when you cough up a lung and know full well that every person in the place has made a judgement about you based on what you look like.

I'm a tracky bottoms/baggy t-shirt girl but I have such a mental block about going to the gym for precisely this reason. I can't bring myself to be that person in the gym who the buff people are judging. It doesn't matter that I'm doing something about my lardy arse or that I care enough to try. It probably doesn't cross the minds of others as to how I feel, the only thing crossing their mind (in my head) is that she'd look hideous in Lycra. You can imagine the fight in my head about going swimming. I love to swim but I am utterly unable to make myself go.

I'm not sure how I get past that feeling of being horribly out of place in an environment where I'm being judged by people who have absolutely no idea what it's like to battle with weight and/or fitness because all they're thinking about is 'fuck me she's totally not hot enough for lycra'
