Yes I like the older anime's - much darker! Blood the vampire is a fave too along with anything studio ghibli.

Re: Beat Takeshi, I love Minna Yatteru Ka! (Getting Any?) Which is a ridiculously silly film about a loser's pursuit of car sex.

It's hilarious but you won't like it unless you like dumb humour.

I prefer Japanese tv dramas to film, although it's ages since I watched any.

Kekkon Dekinai Otoko,

Densha Otoko, GTO, Bloody Sunday, My Boss My Hero etc.

I've seen oldboy and lady vengeance. Love them. As for the Hollywood oldboy remake - what a load of crap. Hollywood wrecks asian films. The originals are infinitely better.

Ai No Corrida - In the Realm of the Senses.

There are many 60/70's Japanese movies available on YT and other sites...well worth a look if you are interested in philosophical, thoughtful pieces beyond the usual Hollywood drivel.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Human nature seen through the lenses of postmodernism, surrealism and sex. Sounds right up our street
