So my band were talking over lunch today about introducing one or two cover versions into our playlist.

My question to Fab land is which song would you like to see a rock/punk cover version of?

With lots of people in bands gracing the fab world we should get booked at some parties and events

That's an epic solo though

One suggestion was Europe - The final countdown (I think he had d*unk too much Stella for breakfast). That said, the band Affiance did a cover of it and the singers voice is incredible in it.

Poole

Usually the reason for playing some covers is to link to the audience so while some of the suggestions are cool you kinda need to figure out target audience and then pick ones that they would likely know and be able to recognise, then their response will be "I know and love this song, also like what these guys have done to it, I will now listen to the rest of their set"

How about some of the classics, queen maybe? that then transcends generations.

or there is a 100 choices of various 80s hits that most people know.

medleys are always good for that, so if you can link up some Bowie, Blunt and some Adele you would get em all listening.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Hot and cold by Kate Perry...would work as a rocker, hasn't been done to death already (baby one more time), is fairly catchy.

Or, if you want to be more retro, something 80's pop - Take On Me by A Ha?

Personally, I think that choosing a cover version as a box -ticking exercise is the wrong approach. If there's a song you know and WANT to play, do that.
