Do you think that people have the urge to speak the truth when they're d*unk or would you take something that was said under the influence with a pinch of salt?

In my case it's not about speaking the truth when I've had a few it's more about me saying stuff that ought to stay in my head.

D*unk people have caused themselves brain damage by intoxifying their body.

I have no doubt brain damaged people have the ability to function.

People talk shit when they're d*unk, they're boring, they think they're something they aren't, they lie and talk shit. I don't believe they tap into their subconscious and become a real them, they become an arsehole, a human being with impaired function.

Someone who's pissed all the time changes, they become a fake them all the time.

Very much agree. People also think they are invincible when under the influence and I think I'm a pornstar

Although people may say bits of the truth it will never come out right or how they really mean it as their brain isn't functioning properly. I would take it with a pinch of salt and ask them to explain when they have a clear head.

At a work Xmas party I had a lot to drink..far to much really. An intern acussed me at looking at her tits....umm pissed up, I said yes I was, they are nice and your ass is pretty nice also and crooked my neck to double check.... ....which in the swinging world would be hey ho....but in work environment not professional...I worried all weekend

Let's say Monday morning I did walk up and apologise for d*unken comment...she did laugh it off thank goodness....tbh she said it was fine

True, but if I'm a happy d*unk I get over enthusiastic and tell people I love them when really I don't! (Can be a tad awkward with an ex)

And if I'm maudlin I start rambling on about missing an ex from years ago. Which is utter bollox. So it's best not to trust a thing I say when pished!

Don't worry dirty, they were probably talking out their arse!

Sometimes people tell the truth when d*unk, sometimes they get carried away with an idea and just keep going with it whether or not it's true or accurate just because they can't hold any other thoughts in their addled brain than that one.

D*unk people often repeat rumour and supposition as absolute truths too - how many d*unken conspiracy theories have you heard? And laughed at because they're ridiculous but the d*unk is adamant. Just because it's about you or people you know doesn't mean it's true or accurate anymore than the theory about Prince Phillip having Diana's car run off the road in Paris that the d*unk came out with last time they had too many.

good advice

I don't know what your friend is like normally and the context of how it was said. can you see any other meaning to his words or where he might be coming from?

I don't think people always tell the truth when they're d*unk, depending on how much they've had the thought process can get somewhat muddled.

People say all sorts when they are d*unk. Usually its harmless but someone I know once said something when d*unk, that caused a bit of trouble.

Last year I was drinking rather a lot of wine, nearly a bottle a night. I had a few issues going on. Over it now though, getting d*unk isnt worth it and I dont do it anymore.

It's just my opinion. Nothing personal. Like i said i avoid people who drink, my best mate is an alcoholic and i avoid her at times. I like her loads when she's sober.

I'm heavily biased and don't want to change that as it benefits me not to, my opinion is more about me than anyone else.

D*unk people don't always say what they really think. There are lots of random and disconnected ideas in our minds and we filter them and organise them with rational thought and internal debate and dialogue. When people are pissed the filter is bust and all sorts of crap escapes. It's not a true view on how they think BUT it's not a legitimate reason to upset people either, when the person is sober tell them.

Surely this is contradictory....if they use filters when sober then it must mean they think it normally and the filters don't work when d*unk.

Thanks for your input, appreciate your thoughts. I think it was more the language used that upset me. It was a colleague rather than a friend, I don't have friends who would speak to me that way.

I'm just going to let it go but it adds another dimension to the respect I had for him that's dwindling out of the door.

On the plus side it's Friday and I think I may cure my hangover with a big fat glass of wine.

(I'm a silly d*unk, I talk nonsense and laugh. I don't get so d*unk that I lose my filter, I don't have a filter in the first place. I'm not mean or nasty and I would never call any of my colleagues 'a stupid cunt' when I was d*unk or sober.)
