So Frankie Boyle has gone and upset Jordan aka Katie Price, with a bad taste joke about her son Harvey on his channel 4 show. This joke also appears in his new live stand up dvd which ive watched recently.

I cannot stand Jordan as she is happy to have her whole life be filmed for her crap tv show. But i do think Frankie Boyle has gone too far with this joke. I think adults are fair game for jokes within reason, but to make jokes about a disabled kid is below the belt, regardless of who his mother is. In fact, i found most of his new live stand up dvd not really that funny, and found most of it to be recycled onto his new channel 4 show. And this from a fan who only watched mock the week because of him being on it.

I think he went too far a couple of times in his stand up show last night. I have a (wicked) sense of humour, but to make jokes about the dead and disabled is scraping the barrel. He's lost 2 fans in this household.

I tend to agree. But just to play devils advocate:

Frankie Boyle gets free publicity for crossing the line yet again.

Katie Price gets to play victim like she's become so fond doing.

Ofcom get an opportunity to look like they actually perform a worthwhile function.

Frankie Boyle crossed the line with this joke lets be clear about that, and it also offensive to slag people with disabilities. Jordan is a publicity seeking person who uses the media to further her own career, and I suspect if any jokes had been made about her never mind her son she would be in the media having a go herself. I am Scottish and like Frankie Boyle but a do not like Katie Price as her ego is off the wall

I disagree with you totally. Too many people take licence to be as tactless and tasteless as they like and use the ' comedy is an art' argument to get out of responsibility. They also use the pushing the boundary argument to the same effect.

This is where the area is very grey. Boudaries need to be pushed but the harm and consequences and all parties involved should be thought of first.

A joke circulating some years ago when Michael Jackson was accused of molestation went along the lines of Whatever you say the radio would play. The punch line being I had to break to avoid them and i shouted 'fucking kids' A michael jackson record came on.

I asked when did child rape become acceptable and funny. A whole debate ensued using arguements mentioned above and also the ' humour is used to diffuse our tension about subjects that are too painful to bare.'

I listened to the arguments then made very distasteful jokes about peoples grandchildren by name. Suddenly no one thought pedophilia to be amusing. Some even got angry with me. Gosh.

Seems it's funny if you are laughing at others but not if it's about you and yours.

I can handle most jokes but never any about child abuse. It's just NOT funny. Not ever.

Using lines like 'Get a Grip' doesn't really further your argument nor is it likely to make people think.

I can't stop jokes about child abuse but I can refuse to laugh - and I do.

My problem with this is not that its against a race in whole, or all disabled children in general, or all germans, etc etc it was aimed at ONE defenceless disabled child ! If he aimed it at fat / thin / tall etc people we can all live with that and probably laugh!

If Jordan wanted her kids lives to remain private then she should have kept them out of the limelight instead of using them regularly in her battle of wits between her and her various exes. I didn't know what boyle had said but I've just googled it and taking the piss out of a disabled child is bad enough but to then go on and suggest incest between mother and son is just out of order.

I've never liked his humour and he needs to be reigned in a peg or two over this - but I bet he'll sell more dvd's because of it.

I choose not to listen or laugh at a joke about a CHILD with DISABILITIES the reason for this is that that child cannot defend themselfs. I am sorry that is a bit low. Make as much fun out of people who can defend themselfs but not a child they are the innocents in all of this.

I didnt know what had been said by Frankie Boyle but have just googled it.

Its low, despicable and I feel sorry for a comedian who has to scrape the bottom of the barrel and go against any ounce of decency in order to grab a few laughs. The only people who laugh and enjoy jokes targeting children with disabilites and sexual abuse or rape are quite frankly people who are lacking in decency themselves.

Katie Price may have sold every inch of her life to make money. Love her or hate her, shes an astute business woman who is an expert on marketing a product that would make her millions - herself. Yes she has put herself and her children in the limelight but even she does not deserve this kind of treatment. I suggest Mr Boyle go back to the drawing board and try very hard to write material which might have a stroke of humour in it - if thats possible

I love Frankie Boyle but I cringed at that one knowing what the reaction would be, on TV anyway. Would have laughed more if i'd heard it in t pub after a couple of pints. It's all about what is appropriate in the setting. He got that one wrong in my rather unimportant opinion. Still a fan though. As for katie Price..............Who gives a fuck.

I do think that Frankie has become a caricature of himself.He used to be very very funny but then he realised that people liked him because he was very close to the bone and now all he does is dilliberately try to shock and the comedy element second.His new show is pants.Give it up Frankie and go back to comedy.

'Laughing' is very closely associated with fear.

Apes will appear to 'laugh' when stressed...it's a natural reaction, in humans, to laugh, not only at things that are funny, but also disturbing.

If she wants to put herself in the spotlight, her choice. Her kids have that right taken from them....I would imagine what frankie has done is highlighted the negative response to her actions.

If the child wasn't so much in the public eye, he couldn't have told the joke as no one would know anything about him to understand it.

I went to see the Frankie Boyle show at the MEN arena last Tuesday. He was hilarious. Close to the bone yeah but he's a comedian and I watched (and laughed) along with 5000 others in the place. If you don't like him don't watch. If you do...then go along for a great night & piss your pants laughing like I did!

Then I hope you can sit there happy in the knowledge that you find disability, and sexual abuse involving a child funny. I for one cannot see any humour whatsoever in it. I had read over and over what the comedian said, I still cant find the humour in it. I find it abhorrent.

And all this talk about Katie Price and how awful she is, and just because she's put her whole life in the limelight that she deserves this kind of crap levelled at her and her family, its bloody ridiculous. Granted she is not the warmest character out there, but shes not sitting on her arse claiming benefits is she, and shes out there, making as much money as she can with the attributes she has. She knows her modelling days are in their twilight period now, shes marketing herself brilliantly I think. Yea shes conceited, whats made her that way though - we have, we, the general public bought into Jordan, every inch of her.

I have lots of constructive things to say, but what would be the point to you. Your earlier complaint about me what that I judged you on one aspect of your personality and that I didnt know you. That is correct. I dont know you, I can only go on the sentences you post on here.

We can all laugh at stereotypes of different races etc, we can laugh at dumb blonde jokes, we can all see a little humour in that. But I fail to see the joke in this instance. I fail to see how someone would find it even slightly amusing.

Humour is subjective.

I've been known to bite my tongue to prevent myself laughing at something awful someone has said that would be devastating if it happened to me.

Gallows humour doesn't make me a bad person, a little warped maybe, but not bad.

We all have a "moral compass", a line we won't cross, who's to judge where that line should be?

I didn't find Frankie Boyle's "joke" funny. He's not someone I would watch and only knew his name because of this! To try and get a laugh at Harvey's expense is distasteful to me, but as someone who finds Chris Rock and Dave Chapelle absolutely hilarious: and they don't hold back on being offensive, I'm not going to be hypocritical and say others shouldn't find it funny!

It just wasn't funny to me and left me feeling a little uncomfortable that we've gone "too far" if that makes sense!

I don't understand why everyone is getting so pent up over this, your person opinions really don't and won't matter. I always read posts on this forum but rarely reply as I feel 99% of them end up as a slanging match between what I can make out to be the "forum regulars" and any bugger who dares to cross them. I went to see frankie boyle last week and I have always been a big fan of his. He used that particular joke as part of his sketch and I found it to be a very desperate joke to raise a laugh, but you have to ask yourself one question.. Would he even know her sons name if she didnt parade her kids around like accessories? regardless it dosent make what he said right but I think she has to accept some responsibility as their mother and putting them on her tv shows which I now hear shes going to stop doing, maybe this has made her realise. There are plenty of more famous people out there who's kids names we don't know. She should never Have allowed the media to attack them. but where there's money to be

It's unfortunate that you chose to creat a group known as forum regulars ( which doesn't exist ) and a sole contributor known as ' any other bugger who dares to cross them'

I stopped contributing to this thread when one person used their every contribution to heap personal insult on whoever they responded to.

I saw others stating their opinions or just trying to bat the person off.

This persons opinions did not 'cross' any potential existant group.

It was individuals responding to the insults levied at them.

I don't know if im a prolific contributor or not. I respond when I feel like it. I am not a member of any group 'perceived' or otherwise. I am an individual sitting at an individual screen tapping buttons n wiggling my mouse now n then.

its on teletext news that channel 4 has defended the rights of comedians to push the boundries. It has been said on here about her being publicity hungry (understatement of the year) so she should take it with a pinch of salt or get out of the public eye ( please!)

Why is it that if a comedian makes jokes which offend they are lauded for pushing boundaries and not reviled fdor seeking adoration or publicity or money making - yet a 'model' / 'business woman' making a move or using their talent or skills to court publicity and make money is sneered at ?

Ive just watched Katie Prices documentary following Frankie Boyles comments about her son im not a fan of Katie but there was no need to make those comments about Harvey he wont meet Katie Price which doesnt shock me but to not even apologise for such discraceful sick comments about him is unbelivable he really should be ashamed of himself how it could have been allowed to be shown on television is beyond me thats not humour its a damn right discrace!
