Human Resources by metanoia.

It's the history of shaping society, and more interesting than it sounds. Bit scary as well.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks! I have seen about 50% of the ones recommended so far but i'm googling some of the others now. Also, good to know there's people here who like docs as much as i do. I may just come straight here for my doc recs from this point on. Cheers!

I recommend Longitude if you can find it.

John Harrison's solution to the problem of longitude was a technological triumph.

More than 200 years ago, he realised that for a mariner to accurately determine his east-west position, a near-perfect timekeeper was necessary. By comparing the precise time on the boat with that in the sailor's home port, he knew it would be possible to calculate the distance travelled.

That was AWESOME! And tbh it did cheer me up at the end! He was a success story. A man who took his life to the brink of ruination and pulled himself together. Thanks for the recommendation!

There's a lot of 9/11 documentaries, but several are worth watching

9/11- inside the WCT. Originally starting out as a behind the scenes of the first days of a NY probationary fire fighter- they captured the most famous footage of the first crash and continued to film the fire crews inside the towers.

The miracle of stairwell B documents the survival and rescue of a team of firefighters who were in one of the buildings as it collapsed- and just how they managed to make it out.

The man who predicted 9/11 details the Cornish born security manager who saw the possibility of the attacks, saving numerous people when it happened.

The final one is 'the falling man'. This follows the search to discover the identity of a single body falling to the ground before the towers collapse.

None of them are jolly, easy to watch films- keep the tissues handy

If you like rock music then supermensh, the legend of shep Gordon on netflix is very good.

Cropsy, also on netflix is much darker but fascinating.

You can alway rely on Louis Therroux weird weekends for much lighter docs

I agree it is a eye opener, but, there's always a but isn't there.... Lol when you examine a lot of the claims made it is actually so full of holes it would make a good swiss cheese.. But like you said it is interesting.

Dylan Avery made (if I recall) 4 or 5 loose changes. Though convincing as a documentary, some believe the 5 were composed as a tool to create doubt of the official story.

Those holes could be because those films were composed for maximum impact..

Well worth watching. Shows Clarkson in serious journalist mode and the 'twist' is excellent TV

The follow-up (although not directly related) is also well worth watching. "The greatest Raid of all". If you have not heard much about ww2 commando raids you will watch it with your mouth open in amazement.
