"No go as and when we need things. I don't like having to decide days in advance what to have to eat. If we fancy it we go and get it fresh. Might be why we spend so much on shopping ![]() This is part of the reason I'm asking as that is how we usually shop too. We're lucky to have a green grocer and a Butchers in our village so it is easy enough. We're trying the Supermarket out to see if the cost differs much and if its easier/more convenient doing one big shop instead. X

"(Boring question sorry folks) Do you do a weekly food shop. If so how much do you usually spend and do you stick to a regular Supermarket or shop around ? Mrs x" I buy a weekly supply of essentials but usually myself and the kids decide on a daily basis what we want for dinner so I buy that fresh each day. It's actually reduced wasted food massively.

"Mrs ddc gets certain things that are cheaper in Chesterfield, plus veg from the market, while she's at work. The butcher delivers, then we do a final main shop at our local supermarket before work on a Monday morning, spending whatever's left. Total £80 per week (for 4). We grow a lot as well though, (and have chickens) And Yes, packed lunches for all. Mr ddc" I'd love chickens or ducks if I had room.

"Yes, we have a weekly shop, mostly supermarket, but some markets and smaller shops. The cost is roughly £70 for two humans (much more if you include the dogs). But then, we have loads of fresh food and such so the higher cost is worth it to us ![]() ![]()

"Who has packed lunch ? Or do you spend extra by buying lunch at work ? " I can eat at work for free at lunchtime but often don't bother as it's not very healthy. My lad just started reception year so gets free school dinners but only has them 3/5 days when it's stuff I know he likes he has pack lunch the other days

"Who has packed lunch ? Or do you spend extra by buying lunch at work ? " I usually make a packed lunch for me. The eldest has lunch money & the youngest a combo of packed lunch & school dinners. I spend way too much on a weekly shop, might as we'll pay my wage straight to sainsburys. Apprx costs £100+ a week.

"We've started shopping at Lidl and Aldi instead of Morrisons. The food seems to be better quality, and we're saving about £30 a week. £1,500 a year - wow!" Morrisons is shocking, I hate that I have to shop there but it's my local supermarket I love Aldi it's just a ball ache for me to get too as I don't drive
