My cat is a bit like that... she's heard when she really wants me to hear her but sometimes I get silent meows.

Our Russian Blue didn't meow as a kitten - we were witness to her first ever meow at about 6 months old and she frightened herself and scarpered.

Cute, but not bright

Mine can't either. Just an occasional 'mek' type noise (and little excited chirrups) for years. Now she's deaf in her old age she's vocal; still no recognisable meowing but she does her own equivalent of shouting.

I should have married your cat and not my ex wife.

Although the kids might look a little different.

I'm not 100% sure, Bengals were selectivey bred of domestic cats with hybrids of domestic cats and an Asian leopard cat.. some wild cats don't meow they make a low growling/mewling sound...

As long as she's happy and purrs i wouldn't worry x

Raggies are the best cats in the world.

One of ours is a whisperer too. When she wants to go out she can make a racket though.

The rest of ours are pretty talkative but two of them are ill at the moment so it's very quiet around here..... I don't like it

Cats don't vocalise to them selfs the use stance and eyes sqints to each other, cats meow to humans to get attention its something they have learnt to manipulate humans, maybe your cat thinks your a cat ,give him time lol

My 2 year olds don't make much noise untill 3:30 Monday morning when they done a delightful rendition of "Cat's" the musical.... on my bed!! I was not overly impressed and told them to put a sock in it before I turned them into slippers.

My dog doesn't bark.

He can. He just chooses not to.

In 4 years, he's probably barked about half a dozen times

I had a cat that didn't meow for a long time too, eventually just starting in her own way. Ops may or may not and you may have to develop other ways to communicate. Maybe a modified party whistle attachment?

Recently had to say goodbye to our beautiful 22 year old cat. She never used to meow but once she got into her teens she got very vocal. I used to have conversations with her. I miss her a lot.

Have 3 cats - 2 by choice and they all communicate a bit different. Personally think it could be you as a human are unable to pick up the sound bit like the dog whistle idea.

The 'yawning' debate is a interesting one - most of the time the cat is saying hello it seems to be a greeting as is head rubbing or an extended head forward sniff.

Two neighbours cats keep visiting. One talks and meows constantly.

The other makes a moo sound! Like one of those tippy cow tins.

Got the giggles when I first heard her...

My mate was boasting about having an amazing dog. So he took me down to the local boating lake and said watch this. He threw a stick across the lake and said 'fetch'. The dog then ran across the surface of the lake, retrieved the stick and returned it to him. Pleased as Punch he asked me what I thought.

I replied, "Your dog can't swim."

My cat thinks he is a dog!

So far we have taught him to sit, and also give his paw.

Next trick im trying with him at the moment, how to open door and let himself in/out.

Helps having a dog in the house too, bloody cat does everything the dog does
