Outskirts of Notts

I've been asked to buy a computer game called command and conquer the ultimate edition .

My question is it's a download game and I'm not sure what that means and also does that mean it can only be played on one pc ?

You should be able to get it on disc too.

If you download it, yes it will be restricted to one pc

There should be a Q&A section on the site you're intending on downloading it from. The information is usually on there, if not then there is probably a game forum, you could ask on there.

i would have thought it would tell you on the website you are trying to buy the game from....

i have done it for american sporting simulation games you wouldn't be able to get over here...

the way those have work is they allow you to download at the time of purchase... and send you an e-mail with the "licensing agreement number"

you put that number in to validate it...

then if you want to load the game again on another computer... it will ask you if you have already bought the game.... and when i have said yes, it asks for the agreement number....

On a side note, with the exception of one or two. Fantastic series of games.

Well considering they advertise it as 17 games, it is not, really more like 8 games with all the expansion packs for the entire back catalogue of the CnC franchise, that dates back to 1995 iirc. In this version by EA( money grabbing company) is optimized for Win 7. The genre of the games are mainly RTS(Real Time Strategy except for CnC Renegade which is a poor poor mans linear FPS (First Person Shooter). Come Cnc 4, major game changer, shiny graphics limited units...a demise of the franchise originally created by Westwood.

Given the price tag....um not worth it, as for a simple Win 7 optimized versions, double++ the decades pack price they had out.

As for versions of DISC or Download, only seen the download code packs, so you be signing up to EA, and their crappy servers. Though you have to remember the sign in details etc to be able use on another PC or laptop.

So up to you.

Oh btw, I got my first PC because of the original CnC, way back so many many years ago. Still got the original CD's for the games.

TBH most of that went over my head . I thought westworld and ea games was the same thing , but I still haven't worked what franchised films mean .

I have just bought something off ebay and they have sent me a code was only £6 so not sure if I've got it right or lost £6 .

Hi Jo,

Sounds like you bought a download code.

To use it you need another piece of software called Origin (its free, so don't worry). Its like a digital storefront for the games that EA sell.

Once its installed go to the origin menu in the top left corner and pick "Redeem product code". This will add the game to your origin library and you can download it using the origin software on pretty much any machine you like. I'm not aware of any limits - but you'll only be able to play the game on one machine at a time probably.

Hope that helps
