Shit I'm nearly 30

So I turn 30 soon and I feel like I need to make drastic changes in my life.

Not mid life crisis type crap like buy a yacht or get a young super model girlfriend (neither I would say no to)

But in a "I'm not necessarily happy with things the way they are and I want to get to 30 and be on the path to being much happier"

Has anyone else had the same feeling and how did you deal with making tough changes?

You can't get onto a path towards happiness, because happiness itself is a path, not a destination.

However, sit down and think about the things that aren't making you happy, and change them. Don't like your job? Change it. Bored of your home? Redecorate. It all depends what it is that's making you unhappy

Ok so it's come to you having another birthday to realise you ain't happy with things. If you ain't happy don't wait till a birthday to change things. I recently turned 30 I was feeling a little anxiety towards it but it's just another day.

I dreaded turning 30. I got really reflective of my life and felt pretty miserable about it. Like you I wasn't entirely happy with my life.

I have to say although there have been a lot of hard times being in my 30s has been better than my 20s. 2 years in and I feel a little more secure in myself and where my life is going.

I think we all go through these feelings at certain points. You can't change it so you should try to embrace it xx

thinking of all the stuff thats happened between 30 and 53 sheesh - you cant plan or make changes - it all just happens

If you feel like you need to make drastic changes then you should go for it. It gets harder to do that as you get older and have more responsibilities. I was facing a life changing event as I turned 30 (pregnant with my first child) and I must admit to having a bit ofa panic as I realised being 30 would be very different to my 20s. If you aren't happy then only you can change things. Good luck OP. X

I'll repeat what iv said in a similar thread,your sort of inbetween ages so to speak, are you on the top of the young ladder or at the bottom of the old ladder? Only you can decide that

Take some risks and make some changes. Do more things that make you happy. Just remember not every chane has instant results. Start small, do something you've always wanted to.

Dont measure your acheivments against age though everyones life happens at a different pace xx

I remember having a feeling of dread when I was 29 as being 30 seemed so grown up and I wasn't ready for it!

But it was fine and I 'grew up' without realising it, settled down & had children.

Didn't feel the same way about turning 40, I think I was too knackered lol but am having the same feeling of dread about the next milestone.

So after all my ramblings I suppose what I am trying to say is you can't stop the ageing process but you can embrace it and make changes along the way.

I had a total meltdown when I hit 30. In the middle of John Lewis when I was buying a sofa. It was beyond ridiculous. There were tears and all sorts. I'd just bought my flat and had no idea how I'd survive living alone. I was like a duck to water and all that worrying was for nothing. I still live alone.

My 30's were without doubt my favourite time. I found out who I was. It was utterly brilliant!

Enjoy yourself. Find yourself and what you want and have as much fun as you possibly can.

I was more worried about turning 25 then 30 as I didn't know what I was doing with life.

Upon approaching 30 I knew exactly what I was doing and what my goals were so welcomed the big 30 with open arms.

I don't think age is important. ..unless you are just coasting through life
