Maybe i'm a bit of a tree hugger, but i dont like the idea of killing a perfectly healthy, very young tree and sticking in in your house to watch it shed all its needles, dry up and die.But i have heard of a company that hires out live trees in a pot and after christmas they take it back and re-plant it.Great idea.

Always used to get a real one, we would go dig our own and pot it carefully and water it, it always got planted in the garden after and survived.

However now I'm in a small house with two dogs, I use a fake tree. (one still eats all the chocolate baubles off it if they are put too low)

We had the same real one for 20 years at my Mum's- it lived in the back garden most of the year, got brought in for christmas, then re-planted after New Year.

It had to go eventually as it was huuuuge! Two very squiffy people chopped it down one night and recycled it for firewood when they went fishing.

As far as I know they all live on, I moved around a lot. No trees in my garden now alas. xxx
