Mine still gives me butterflies. Champagne, Diamond ring, heart shaped rose petals over the bed (candles everywhere) gorgeous hotel. All this on New Years eve around 23.50. How did your other half propose to you? X

I think we were fighting and it just happened. No romance. I should have said no.

My friend proposed to her girlfriend by tying the ring to their pet tortoise on a ribbon that said will you marry me. It was so sweet.

Chams or Socials

I asked him.

Same with the divorce

Mine was so sweet and personal. I answered him with a "no." He looked shocked and I laughed and said I was just kidding. Best decision I've ever made.

Just got asked to me maid of honor at my friend's wedding, and hearing her engagement story really made me relive my own.

That's sweet! Formality is a big deal!

Planned for two months. Most of which went into designing the ring.

Custom made engagement ring cast in platinum - felt like a right diamond geezer having to choose what diamond to put in the ring, in the end I chose a E grade 0.50 carat princess cut diamond.

Bought loads of cava and prosecco because we don't like champagne, rented about 50 glasses from sainsburys.

Proposed at Mrsdpts work - she thought she was working that night but I hid our families and friends in one of the side rooms of the pub.

She didn't even say yes just called me a nobhead! We've been engaged 18 months now

On Christmas day I put the ring in a cracker and made sure she won then asked if she'd marry me she said yes now we're getting married next august and she's stupidly happy

Nornal Monday. No special occasion. Shit weather. Shit day at work. Came home and he'd left clues around our flat to lead me to the box with the ring in it - which was inside a series of boxes starting with a Hoover box and going through cornflakes boxes and dishwasher tablet boxes to finally get to the ring box.

For me, this was infinitely more romantic than some overblown gesture like halfway up the Eiffel tower on Valentine's day. Marriage is a series of shitty Mondays and staying in love with each other through those, and it perfectly reflects the kind of people we are.

I do worry he's a tad obsessed still yes !

But that's why I had him threw in jail
