.. If anyone has any helpful ideas:

I went swimming the other day and got water in my ears, it drained from my left ear just fine but didn't seem to drain out of the right one, now 2 days later it still feels like there's water in my ear, I can equalise my ears and I've tried tilting my head and being upside down and on my side nothing seems to work and it's muffled my hearing on that side because obviously something's blocking my ear.. And ideas how to get rid of it while I wait for an appointment with my gp???!!! Thanks

Try lying on that side all the time so the water tries to go through your ear wax. That's what i do. I also soak it in a warm bath on that side, it's usually loads of gunky ear wax blocking mine up for some reason. Takes me 2 days to get it to come out.

Go to the chemist and get some swim ear, just a few drops and it will clear up. It breaks the meniscus (the water tension) on the water in your ear which is stopping it from coming out.

Screw the end of a bit of tissue up into as fine and long a point as you can and poke it about to soak it up

Olive oil is good before you have them syringed as it helps to break down the wax. Not sure about your situation tho.

I do feel I should point out I have NO medical know ledge at all apart from a Brownie First Aid badge, circa 1980.

A little drop of warm olive oil in your ear at bedtime. Put a little cotton wool in to cover the hole. The olive oil will break up the ear wax so the water can drain out.

This happens me regularly.

As long as there's no pain in the ear probably some wax removal drops would help as it's likely to be trapping the water, chewing gum may help as the action of chewing helps to loosen anything there, any pain go to gp

Get in the shower tilt your head and fill your ear with water, shake your head a little while still tipped to one side and then tilt your head the other way and all the water will fall out including the stuck water,

Whatever you do do not stick anything in your ear to try get it out all you do is compact the wax in your ear to your eardrum and then have to get your ears syringed
