Being too complimentary?

Is sending a message complimenting some one on their pics going above and beyond just fabbing them?

I messaged a couple simply saying this as they where very arty (clearly professionally taken) so just wanted to say how nice they where, wasn't asking for anything, deleted the message and blocked me?

No idea. I do this when I read a profile I like. I just think credit where it's due. They may block me but I don't check.

As a rule if a guy mails you on here he's trying to instigate a conversations leading to a meet

If they aren't interested they may block you

Not many guys mail you to say nice pics and that's the end of the conversation, honestly that don't often happen

I'm assuming they thought you was after a meet

I have no intentions of insulting anyone, I am a realist so know that I'm not for everyone or most for that matter, there was no malice meant in my message to them, I wasn't even expecting a reply but to be blocked I thought was a bit far fetched.

Men frequently mail us complimenting us on our pictures from too far away to meet sometimes even america and its often a one off message. We just reply saying "thanks" and leave it there.

I do understand why people block and delete though.

I get loads of messages complimenting me on my pictures and/or my profile. I nearly always respond with a thank you and then there's the follow up messages, trying to get in my knickers even though they clearly haven't read my profile.

They don't like the rejection.

I sometimes message, saying 'nice profile / pics' if they are really WOW..

Couldn't give a shit if they block me or don;t reply, as I like to make someone feel a bit good about themselves. Its nice to have your ego stroked sometimes.

If I wanted to meet them , I'd ask.

I just think if there's something that makes me laugh or if a profile is well written or there are great pics then I like dropping a PM to say so.

There's never any motive for me other than dishing out a compliment or credit where it's due on humour in posts or great threads. Some days it's the only PMs I send. I'm not looking to meet at the moment so it's really nice to be able to say something nice without any pressure.

I do it in every day life too. Someone complimented me on my shoes one day and it properly made my day. I like making people smile. Makes me happy.

Don't ever tell me where you live unless you're prepared for random nonsense post!

It's not an insult, just there's not really anything to reply to except to say thanks. I wouldn't block someone for complimenting my pics, i just wouldn't bother to reply either.

Everything is all about the context - that's how we determine meaning from things.

Op - what were your objectives for sending compliments? What did you wish/expect to achieve?

The recipients - why are they here, what are their objectives? How many messages do they get that don't help them achieve these? If yours isn't leading anywhere they want, it's no surprise that it could be deleted.

Could have had a discussion about creativity, art, modelling, sex, fab, etc. If that's not what they want, the kids need picking up and they've another few dozen messages, then it shouldn't be too hard to empathise and join the dots.

If a profile states they want photo feedback then it's a different matter. But there still won't be guaranteed responses.
