Shelf life for a profile?

Just something am curious about. Should an inactive profile have an expiry date and if so what would be reasonable amount of time before was deleted? Online accounts whether email, fab or facebook can be throwaway and often forgotton (who still has a myspace account that they didn't delete?) but surely every account will be taking storage space on a server somewhere turning the internet into a virtual landfill site full of the twisted derelict wrecks of unused websites, forums and distant memories of those who couldn't get a meet off fab so went off to pastures that seemed greener

I think you have a good point. Two years perhaps? And yes, Cyberspace is no doubt full of junk/unjunked stuff floating around.

Brighton - even Hove!

It's a bit of early 21st century social history - this site and the good people on it will be the cause of some 2115 graduates thesis. So to that future person...good luck.

Some people might just be slow burners....maybe they can plod along for months even years without even thinking about their genitalia until a sudden strange stirring in the pants has them exploding back on the scene bursting with sexual effervescence and unbridled stamina .....

Or maybe its some other reason they no longer login.....

No. I dip in and out. I don't want someone coming along to decide that my time is up. That's my choice.

And if I die then someone will be admiring my little top hat in years to come.

Usually it's 90 days inactivity, with email alerts leading upto it

Makes sense then your member count is genuine and not consisting of a large volume of dormant accounts

Lol appreciate people take breaks and how about an automatic email to say hi not seen you around for awhile do you still wish to keep your account?

Yeah that's maybe a possibility but sometimes the fab emails end up in my junk folder. I like my nickname. It's been my name for ten years. Do I lose that if I miss the email and get deleted? Someone else comes along in between and steals it. That would get right up my nose.

Automatically disabling the account after a set period of inactivity could work

Increasingly it's tough to get accounts and information removed even when dead. I'd keep it as it is I think.

I hope they do get deleted after a while as I'm sure I may have a few dormant accounts from other sites before I joined here!
