Been married ( 9 years) and 1 long term relationship ( 3 years) .. so I guess I've spent 60% single and the rest in a relationship.

Been single now for over 10 years (through choice) but I will be honest and say I didn't expect it to be this long single, though I will also be honest and say I haven't actively seeked a relationship during that time either....

Single. My longest relationship with a full time boyfriend was when I was 17/18/19.

I'm a commitment phobe. I suspect simply because I've never found the right person for me. I've had a variety of relationships over the years but I've never been married, never lived with anyone.

My bar is probably set too high.

But in my late twenties I got into a relationship with a girl that became my best friend. The relationship only lasted 2 years but the friendship remained. Unfortunated I met another girl a few years down the line who didn't think our friendship was appropriate... and I was given a choice. I think you can guess which one. Needless to say, love being blind, I made a bad choice!

The short relationships Ive had since that time have been alright. But if I was honest about what I miss the most. That would be my friend!

I had 2 years without a relationship after my ex hubby. Before that I had gone from relationship to relationship so I was ready for a break.

Until I met Paul, I still didn't want a relationship which I think deep down is probably what made him want me more as there was no pressure or expectations. Finally 8 years down the line were still together although took 7 years to seal the deed with marriage

I was a late-starter: had no-strings fb from age 20-28.

Followed by 24 years (almost half my life) with the woman I married.

Last 5 months though, trying to get used to being single again.

My ex husband was my first boyfriend we got married and divorced I've not had a relationship since

We was together for 9 years the rest of my life I've been alone

I'm used to it now, to be honest I'm not sure I could ajust to being with somebody now I've resided to the fact I'll die on my own

I'm largely not pulled towards a lifestyle of relationships, especially a string of them. Been very happy in and out of them. Neither is better, as long as we're satisfied and content. Even if there is societal pressure to be at least coupled. (less so for larger poly groupings).

One of my friends had had no single day of his life without a female partner from school through his thirties - often cheating and having the next lined up, whilst still with the former. Sad and grotesque.

On fab we have a good number of very happy single folk - we're in great healthy company.

And many of us have reservations at the fab care home, for when we're a little later on but still enjoying ourselves.

Think it's probably 50/50 for me. I'm perfectly happy being single, although it's also nice to have a partner. Just not sure I could be bothered with the hassle of it right now. Maybe if the right guy came along.....

Mainly in a relationship / married from the age of 22, mainly single before that.

OP (Lee, Luke or Liam? Lol) I do recall a thread you started a few months ago where you outlined the criteria that a woman had to meet 'or you wasn't interested' and the list (when aggregated) was nigh on unobtainable for any mere mortal as far as I can remember.

Seeing as you've said elsewhere on this thread that you long for true love and companionship can I flip this thread around a bit and ask would you be prepared to compromise on some of your prerequisites to achieve that companionship you long for?

I would imagine there's a lot of ladies out there that meet 80-90% of your requirements but very few that meet 100%? (Assuming they like you back, of course!) - anyway, I hope you do find someone to love and be with if that's what you're after!

In my younger years I was mainly in relationships,however I would say in the last 10yrs I've mainly stayed single and have to say I much prefer it.

Personally I would admit I'm quite selfish,so for me being able to do what I want,when I want is very important to me.

I've never bought into the social stigma that seems to be everyone should be in a "Relationship"

I see so many couples who are together and unhappy,and I just think what's the point in living your life like that ?

I'm a very specific sort of guy with a very specific personality, hence why my tastes in women are also, but I don't think my standards are ridiculously high. I just want a happy, healthy relationship with a woman who's

Good looking

Intelligent

Affectionate and compassionate

A bit geeky (otherwise they won't get me)

Surely that's not too much to ask?

My problem when men get close to me is that I like my own space and alone time. I'm not a busy person when it comes to someone else's life. He can do what he likes when he likes and doesn't have to check in with me. That sounds like I don't care about someone and causes problems. Even in a relationship I don't need to know everything a man is doing or where he is. As long as he shows affection and I feel loved I'm ok.
