Spooky you mention the young ones, I was listening to a really old school album today. A spinal tap type thing done by Rik Mayall, Ade Edmonson and Nigel Planer. Bad News it's called, very funny stuff.

I loved Bad news, the comic strip did some great stuff, did you know Peter Richardson the bad news drummer was going to play Mike? but he fell out with the BBC.

Mike: small, a bit dull, and largely forgettable of all the characters

Bad news are fantastic, the album is amazing but (there aren't any sheep in Mongolia) But the two TV shows bad news and more bad news are epic

Funny how those things come to pass. Tim Brooke Taylor of the Goodies was asked to be a Python but turned it down as he'd already signed up for another show.

And although not a British comedy I wonder how the Monkies would have looked if Peter Torq's friend who auditioned with him had got the part...Neil Young !!!

I loved this show!! I was far too young when I used to watch this, must have been about 6 watching taped copies on a toploading betamax, has probably left me with a warped sense of humour but what great days they were!!

Seriously, the follow up 'More Bad News' was even better, and totally eclipses Spinal Tap as the ultimate comic rockumentary, the four of them were comedy geniuses, seriously.

Also don't forget 'Strike!' with Arthur Skargill played by Al Pacino played by Peter Richardson, I absolutely loved that episode
