Offputting Tatts

Ok so I generally have no problem with tatts even though I don't have any myself however there are some I find a bit off putting.

Names especially if it's lists of your kids or as I've just seen someone's name tattooed just above your pussy.

Portraits especially if it's your grandparents or kids on your shoulder blade, I don't want to be looking that as I'm taking you doggy style.

Is it just me?

Tattoos are personal and Id not judge anyone for their choices. There are some that Id not choose personally but someone else might love and that's up to them.

I had a friend who was learning when we were Young and I let him use me for practice so ive got some fairly dodgy ones! They just make me laugh when I look at them. If someone chose not to meet me because of them that's up to them.

Well I love mine, I got my kids initials on my wrist with a rose, not so in love with that one I have to say but I live with it!!

Portraits can be nice but can also be bloody scary!!!

I love tattoos, i love the mystery and the story each tells, each chosen for a reason.

Everyones tapestry is different and whats beautiful to some is not for others. I like finding out the stories in the post coital bliss...

When I'm trim, toned, plastic surgery-ed into symmetry and hav had the personality transplant,i may start judging what others do to decorate their bodies.

But hopefully I won't.

Probably a good thing that people with tattoos don't give a toss about your opinion then isn't it!

I have met men who have different women's names which have then been badly obscured (or in one case just crossed out) and another name added.

I also met one man who didn't have any tatts till he took his shirt off then he was covered in SS insignia, quotes in German and his back had a huge piece which was basically a pile of skulls and a long quote which included the word "juden". I have never been so pleased that I did badly at German at school. I never got to see if there were any more because I suddenly got a message that was an emergency and I had to leave!

I was just about to say that I don't really care either way cause it's their body, their choice but in that case I'd have had an emergency too!!

I think tattoos are really personal, well mine are to me and if someone chose not to meet me because of them then that's entirely fair enough. There's a good chance they wouldn't be my cuppa if they can't see past what's on the outside.

However, after reading the post above, I wouldn't have seen past it either cause to put that kind of thing on your body means it's not just on the outside.

That'll be the reason for my children's names, especially the one I've lost, forever immortalised on my body as a tribute if others don't like it I won't be meeting them anyway so it's no issue to me what they think

Haven't you heard? You get judged for plastic surgery here too.

That said, I don't think finding some tattoos offputting is judging someone. I wouldn't criticise anyone for it or make a judgement about their personality based on it, but some I'm most definitely not attracted to.

A tattoo defines who you are and where you are in your life. I agree som people go over board but it's their choice. I think I shall invest in laser removal as I strongly believe there will be a lot of men wanting sleeve tattoos removed in the near future.

I am still to meet someone who can tell me the meaning of their sleeve tattoo, usually a guy replies "it's fashion" !?!

I am going to get the word "cheese" tattooed onto the side wall of my middle finger. It will be inside a little circle because cheese means so much to me I need to have it written on my body lest people not realise how much it means to me or that I someday forget.

Tattoos are inked to please nobody but the wearer. Some have sentimental tattoos while others; like me tattoo what takes our fancy.

People that actively dislike tattoos and people that choose to have them are perfectly entitled to their own views but also feel free not to vocalise those views. (this is not aimed at the OP but I have experienced people who go out of their way to tell me how much they dislike tattoos and tattooed people).

There are people out there that are appalled by our lifestyle let alone our choice in tattoo designs...

Their loss!

Could you define 'off putting' OP?

Is it just because you don't like the style/content of the tat? Because many inked people do it for themselves - not others (although there are some slaves to fashion that want whatever is trendy at the time!)

Is it because it's bad quality? Because for every tat done by a scratcher or someone who is quite frankly shit at their job there are as many, if not more amazing pieces of work.

Is it because some tats stop you getting the horn once your company is naked and therefore ruin your fun? Because I doubt they were worried about the effect on others sexual performance when they were choosing to get inked.

What people do with their bodies is their choice - be it getting inked, pierced, having plastic surgery, overly defined body building or any other form of body modification.

A

Its the quality of tattoos I find off putting

Everybody likes different so a pic in itself does not put me off

But there seems to be a fad of young guys round here buying second hand tattoo equipment and tattooing people in their homes with no training what so ever

There's some shocking work as you can imagine

If people are daft enough to go to a scratcher then the odds aren't good in things ending well!

While I was mid way through my last 7 hour session a couple came in and I heard the first question they asked my artist - "How much do you charge an hour?"

The subject of money hadn't even been raised when I booked in my sitting. I'd seen his work, spent time going over designs and ideas and it wasn't until I asked if he wanted a deposit that money came up at all - by which time of already decided he was the right guy for the job.

If a tat decision is based on cost then it's a bad decision.

As a heavily tattooed person and a tattooist I just say this...

The difference between a tattooed person and a non tattooed person is this...

The tattooed person doesnt care if you have them or not"

I can see everyones point, they are not for some people, some people really like them, but most people who have them got them for a reason, and each one tells a tale. I love the storys and meanings behind them.

I'm inked.

Mine all have significance.

To ME

Do I give a shit what anyone thinks? No I don't.

I didn't have them to please anyone. I didn't have them because it's fashionable.

I have them because there are things that have occurred in my life that warrant being remembered. That deserved to be respected.

Cost never came in to it ever.

As for "off putting"... TUP

I have no objection to people putting whatever they like on their bodies but certain ones (such as the examples I gave) put me off my sroke in intimate situations.

Sorry but would be enough for me to say "no" if I knew about them before hand.

They don't bother me, so many people have them its just the norm and I rarely notice what they've got anyway.

Did see a lad last year with a full sleeve and he explained what each piece symbolized which i found interesting.

I'm unlikely to meet someone with fuck off tatooed on their knuckles.

Worst tattoo I've ever seen was on a woman of about 25, I was 15 at the time and it was almost unheard of for women to ha e tattoos and she had *mad maria* tattooed across her forehead

I like guys with ink although I don't think I'm suited to it myself.

I don't like the attitude that sometimes comes with it. The whole unprompted "I did it for me, go fuck yourselves if you don't like it" doesn't come across as passionate to me, it comes across as childish. Maybe I knew too many teenagers who were all about the non conformity.

For an actual tattoo to put me off it would have to be horrid, maybe on the face or incorrect spelling, or have eyes that seemed to follow me in a creepy way. Even then if the person was nice I could probably overlook it.

It's the canvas it's on, not the art

i only have two. One I had when I was 18 or so and the other I got considerably recently. I very much doubt if I'd get anymore. These are small and pretty unobtrusive.

I liked the comment someone made earlier, something like, "it's the art, not the canvas", though although in reality that's very true, I think for the sake of "having" someone who is practically a stranger, it's worth bearing in mind that the canvas could be nasty though the art is great

Usually it's a sailors tattoo.

Means they've sailed a certain number of Miles, can't remember the exact number. Or where I learned this .

Well each swallow represents this number, dunno if I've ever seen anyone with them on both hands though - maybe just didn't notice

I've got names of everyone i love. It means i like them enough to have them ingrained into my skin forever.

It used to be traditional to ingrain the skin with the ashes of loved ones, that used to be a popular type of tattoo. I'm just doing it while they're still alive, without their ashes.

Most of my other tattoos mean nothing though, i just liked the pics a lot.

Ultimately it's my body, my skin....and I will put whatever I like on it!

If a meet doesn't like my body art, then shuffle on by, and find someone else.

I love my tattoos.

I couldn't care less what others think! X

I'm the same

None of mine mean anything, my body tells no story and none are personal to me in symbolising anything that's happened in my life

I simply liked them and had them

Wierd I know

"Tattoos.... great when you're young, pretty shit when you're old and wrinkley.

I've seen some awesome old people with great tattoos."

Agreed! And when I'm old and wrinkly, they'll be a great reminder of a life spent having fun!

I have 3 tattoos, about to get a 4th (though that'll be 4 individual ones, so not sure if that'll make 4, or 7 total....), and all of them have meaning to me, but you'll not know what just by looking at them

Only weird thanks to Miami ink and their sob stories to get viewers.

Most people i know get flash off the wall for their first tattoo, there's some really good flash out there now though.

"Tattoo of a swallow on each hand. What does it mean anyhow?

Usually it's a sailors tattoo.

Means they've sailed a certain number of Miles, can't remember the exact number. Or where I learned this .

Well each swallow represents this number, dunno if I've ever seen anyone with them on both hands though - maybe just didn't notice "

Wow I never knew that ... My grandad had one on each hand and he was in the navy , really wish I has asked him about his tattoos now

Thanks again. Wish i'd done the decent ones myself, i'd be so proud of me. The one on my stomach i did myself actually, and my left thigh.

Fucking hell, some people love to be offended eh?! I've got 15ish now, and I'm not overly fussed if people like them or not.

I totally agree with OPs point about portraits. Imagine you were shagging someone and they had a tshirt on with their kids faces looking at you. Would that make you feel uncomfortable? Of course it would!

"

I think tattoos are really personal, well mine are to me and if someone chose not to meet me because of them then that's entirely fair enough. There's a good chance they wouldn't be my cuppa if they can't see past what's on the outside.

"

I'd they're so personal they arent just on the "outside" though are they?

They are you displaying what's inside on the outside

What is amusing is everyone with a tattoo jumping in going "I don't give a shot what people think of then etc" despite no one asking what they thought but equally how many would say they wouldn't bat an eye lid at someone with a swastika and "heil hittler" tattooed across their forehead?

It amazes me how people judge a body by what they put on it or do with it. The same people who have photos of their kids in Facebook are you forgetting what they look like all of a sudden ?? just got on with life they aren't hurting you so why hurt them ?

I think what each of us finds appealing is subjective and thankfully part of what makes us individuals.

I have no ink but appreciate it on others- just some more than others! x

Central

Your attention is your own to manage. If you're meeting someone wonderful then fixating on something you don't like seems a poor choice. Accepting people for who they are is probably a more comfortable thing.

What are you meant to judge someone on if not their actions
