I got home from work this morning from my first job, and my daughter was in a panic, ''Dad'' she said'' '' There is a seriously big big spider, at the top of the stairs, I said ''it will have to be a very brave spider to enter your room, with all the crap that is lying around''.

If you take into consideration, my daughter does contact sports like judo, But any sign of a spider, blue bottle fly or a jasper. She is terrified .

Sooooo people, how do you cope with the annual invasion, of creepy crawlies into your dwellings in the autumn.

Yep, it's definitely turning into spider season, I hate them myself but always have to 'man up' and catch them about the house (although inside I'm a quivering wreck lol!)

Catch in a glass, then throw a good distance out of the window! I'm too soft to kill them ha!

I was petrified of spiders when I was younger until I lived alone then I had to deal with it. Don't want to touch one but I generally just leave them to it

I was sat here the other night, minding my own business, when i felt something brush against my leg. It was a big spider, and pretty brave to come that close.

I wonder why they just seem to randomly walk around your house, going up walls and that? they don't seem to do anything much at all.

I find that a very large boot or heavy book does the trick..... Unfortunately, my husband prefers the catch and release outside method. Why would you want to do that? The not so little bastards only make their way back in again yo scare the shit out of me over and over again

First wife was scared of spiders, so catch and release was a permanent job every September, current wife likes them so they were not touched... that was until we got current cat who takes great delight in hunting and torturing them so now we are on catch and release for their own safety.

We have 2

spider assassin kitties that do our creep crawly removal duties. An added bonus is they get extra protein in their diets.

This thread made me shudder!! Im petrified of spiders ridiculously so! Ive rang Paul home from work to get them before, I could do with a bevvy of men I could call on just for spider removing duty

There's a little one above my bed that can just stay there.. Worst that's gonna happen is he will crawl in my mouth in the night and that would just be a stupid move...

Big ones on the other hand (the ones that are big enough to make a pop sound when you squish them...) they freak me out so much that I won't go near them.

In my old house there were loads of daddy long legs around and I'd squish them before they got too big.. Usually with a book..

A friend of mine spends a fair bit of time here so if there's any big ones I'll just scream and get him to deal with them for me

I'm hoping that being on the 6th floor with multiple doors to get outside, and closed windows will mean less spiders....

I watched a really gross video on Facebook this morning of someone killing a massive spider and then loads of baby spiders running in all directions... I watched about 3 seconds of it.

Last year some time there was a MASSIVE spider in the clean washing basket and I needed knickers... It was like 11pm and both my sisters were in bed but awake so I called the little one down to help me remove it and we ended up both stood on the table screaming so my other sister came down and attacked the spider with the big stick thing we use to open the attic... It disappeared into the coats hanging on the end of the stairs so we were all screaming and my sister used the stick to knock the coats off until we found the spider... It appeared so my little sister dropped a slimming world magazine on top of it and then jumped on it shouting "DIE DIE DIE" for a few minutes... Blood and spider guts everywhere. And yes, I was stood on the table screaming and crying the whole time. Needless to say my mother wasn't impressed by the noise so I took a picture of the dead spider (I had already taken a pic of it when it was alive to show my sister before she came down - from a safe distance with maximum zoom on the camera of course) and showed it to her and she apologised for telling me off for screaming.

Another time there was a big one in my room so I asked my mum to bring the Hoover up (I was on crutches so couldn't get it up the stairs before anyone calls me lazy), but she brought kitchen roll instead and ended up ripping one of its legs off while trying to catch it... 3 days later I was in bed and it crawled up my back and I swatted it away before I knew what it was... It landed in a carrier bag on the floor so I wrapped it up in the bag and then another two bags and put it in the bathroom bin

Wow this has turned out to be slightly off topic and very long...

spiders are fine when u can see them! it's when they disappear is the time to panic
