Chams or Socials

I'm mum. And I'm working as normal.

Why do people assume that parents have free time in the day just because the kids are back at school???

Mom is the Americanised version isn't it? But more and more in use now I've noticed over here (a bit like the use of the word 'panties' instead of 'knickers' etc)

Hello DanBerks,

"Mom is the Americanised version isn't it?"

Yes, and it sounds horrible,; we seem to be using more and more Americanisms here and for the most part they are clumsy and inelegant words and phrases.

My dictionary lists 'panties' as brief knickers but does not attribute it's source as being American.

Alec

Ah thanks Alec, always assumed it was an Americanism but happy to stand corrected

I can't bring myself to shop in Sainsbury's after their advert talks about "mac and cheese". But I think mom is used in certain parts of UK.
