"My upbringing was different to Dirty Girls in that we didn't talk about sex as a family. I wasn't allowed to walk around with just a nightie on and had to keep covered. I'm not comfortable with nudity either. So from our different prospective we will find each others experiences weird. There was nudity in our house, not to a particularly graphic extent but my parents always sleep naked, as do I now. I can't speak for my brother on this but I'd guess he does too. We didn't when we were wee but I have since I was a teenager. Our back garden is shaped so that its hidden from our neighbours so Mum could sunbathe topless at home as she did on holiday. (No prizes for guessing why she and I have skin cancer now!!) so nudity was never really a big deal in our house. I wouldn't say we openly discuss sex but I've certainly talked to my Mum and my brother about that kind of thing. Not in great detail, i.e. she isn't aware of my sexuality or indeed that either of us use this site but she's well aware that I'm sexually active. I'm 42, it's not hard to come to that conclusion. My Dad has a lucky escape from that sort of chat but I talk to him about how to fix stuff.
I think I'm very lucky in the balanced upbringing I've had and my parents are still very much in love after 51 years of marriage. I would hate for it to be any different. | |||

I know a brother and sister from days of old and I don't think it was ever weird for them. They were always at the same social functions.
