diy - good then not so good

ok so i took off the bath panel - repainted it - 2 coats over the day - in the meantime i took out all the old sealant and lifted the bath up slightly from underneath as had been explained to me - filled bath with water and applied new sealant - looks amazing and well pleased for getting bath raised correctly to give even space all round - tidied up and came to replace bath panel - and of course it doesnt bloody fit now - the lip that sits under the edge of the bath doesnt reach now - so i will have to wait til i have an extra pair of hands to hold it up there whilst i re screw the wood its fixed onto at the bottom - i did try shoving things under but just too awkward - was a successful day until then

Couldn't you use some duct tape to hold it in place temporarily

its leaning against the bath as we speak i glare at it when i go past - not a biggy as i use the shower off my bedroom - only use the bath for me and him to 'unwind' in

there always was a gap below - never bothered me one jot - but this now doesnt reach the bath top cos of the way panel is cut around pipes and skirting blah blah - if the sealant didnt look so damn good id drop the bath down again and just have the thick wodge of silicone as opposed to the nice thin line i achieved today

you need to screw a piece of wood to the floor behind panel put two wedges under panel at each end then screw it to wood you screwed to floor xx

then if a big gap bit of colour matched bead to finish off xx

on raising bath did you chock under the bath

some dont some do but chocking under it spreads the weight across your floor than those legs do in 2" space on your floor

The muppet that put my bath in, tiled over the bath panel so when I had an issue I had to take half the friggin tiles off the wall! Eejit! I feel your pain.

I need a new panel - I kicked mine hard & cracked it 3 years ago. I just put the floor towel over it to hide it

Also, why does panel turn yellow but bath stay "white"

already a piece of wood screwed to the floor - just now the holes dont meet the screws and more ooomph needed to screw new holes - there is wood under the feet under the bath - these feet are the ones i adjusted to level out the bath - it will be fine - just not for a few days

i know - could have just replaced the sealant and not had it looking all neat and even as it does now - who knew though ggrr - i quite like doing bits and bobs around the house
