Well I just let mine grow naturally. Never in a million years would I think of shaving it. Life's short enough without that kind of nonsense.

On other people? It's up to the individual. It doesn't bother me. I do hate the thought of women thinking they have to shave off their hair because it's something you do to make yourself more attractive or to conform to some ideal. There's way too much of that. It's just hair. Certainly nothing 'yuk' about it!

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Wouldn't I have to bleach it first before going to the specified colour (I'm no expert on hair colouring) ?

If so, I'm out on that basis alone.

I'd rather shave it into some kind of entertaining pattern... maybe a chequered flag

It's rare to find a woman willing to let her armpit hair grow. I've found four in the last decade, and they were only willing to let nature take its course in the winter.

It is a cultural thing. In some European countries it is more the norm for women not to shave their armpits.

Personally I prefer mine shaved but I could not get too excited over shaved or unshaved armpits on women.

I'll never shave mine, even if it ever becomes as popular as man buns and beards

I do like a nice smooth armpit, of course, but do find something strangely erotic about a bit of natural growth there, not full on bush like mine but a little bit of regrowth is nice to nuzzle up to

I quite like mine when it grows. Nice and soft. No need to dye it...it is ginger.

I only shave it off for appearance sake. Just a habit that could easily be reversed. I dont think hairy pits and an evening dress are a good combination.

I am sure people would jump down my throat if I posted that I find piercings and tattoos "yuck" and unhygienic yet people here think it is perfectly acceptable to be rude about other people's choices to keep something that is naturally part of them.

It's kind of weird that underarm hair is considered to be in / out of fashion.

I shave as I feel I sweat more with hair, especially in the spring / summer months ~ roll on winter when I don't bother as much..

There's a lot of rudeness towards other people recently it seems to go in waves. I'm sorry to say that it's mostly women being rude about other women's physical appearance and men agreeing in the hopes of getting sex.

For what it's worth, I prefer having hair when I'm doing an activity that makes me sweat. The hair holds the sweat next to the body so it can evaporate. The sensation of sweat rolling down my body when I've shaved in the past makes me feel a bit ill.

Always remember Nena singing 99 Red Balloons with her hairy armpits (that's not the name of her backing group) and found it a big turnon

Don't know if it was because I imagined that if she didn't shave her armpits that that must mean she wouldn't shave her pussy.

I've always found a natural unshaven pussy a big turnon.

People's opinions and reactions to hairy women (and men) is a social construct, but whatever makes someone feel comfortable about themselves, isn't a bad thing, except for when hair reduction companies take advantage.

Being a child of the 70's, I do recall a lot more hairy women! I would happily walk around unshaven - I have done so with hairy legs around the gym and for swimming but do like the occasional feeling of smooth skin.

Surely it's like anything else it's all about attraction.

Some people dress-up others use make up, some dress smart, some shave.

As a man I shave my nether regions now as I kinda like the feeling.

Some will not give two hoots about arm pit hair others will find it a turn off.

Is that any different to people put off by size, skin or hair colour, dress sense, lack of make up or too much. Piercings or again lack of them.

It's all about sexual attractions and you can't fake that. But people do what they do shave or not depending on what they are happy to show and what they feel will be attractive to potential meets.

I take it as a personal preference. Everyone (should) do what makes them feel good. If you are comfortable with how you are your confidence level goes up, and it has been discussed on here repeatedly that confidence in a person is attractive which will be reflected back in a happy cycle..when I'm trimmed and shaved, suited and booted I feel great and that shows..but everyone is different.

Yes, my mum was fully shaved when I was born, then shaved only a little when my brother was born mid 70's and not with my sister in 1981. I guess as time progress, attitudes changed on whether it was needed or not. Apparently, women are more susceptible to infection when shaven.

Husband here,

I do love the natural look, I wonder why there is still so much social pressure for women to feel the need to shave. Fine if that's how you prefer your body but where did the need for women to do it come from.

There is a theory that it was to sell more razors to women while the men were at war and so advertising is to blame.

I like the fact that some women won't follow what society expects and do what they feel.

It is after all natural.

I would encourage men and women to go against what society expects of them in some respects but I would also encourage people to do what they want whether that's shave or not shave and anything in between. I'm worried because I don't know at which point on my body hair stops being gross and starts being acceptable. Is it still ok to have eyebrows?

"Actually, for the first time ever, I shaved a bit of my under arm hair off. Don't know why. Probably won't do it again. Maybe it was a psychic thought so I'd get to post on this thread here and now.

Did you do one underarm and not the other or was it more trimming a bit from both?

Be very careful with your answer, you don't want to be accused of being gross for having any and unmanly for having none.

I feel he's in a no win situation here

I'm not sure. There was mention of tattooed eyebrows.

All I know is that I am basically unacceptable at just about every hairy level apart from my head, where it's considered gorgeous.

Me too although I do shave my back if I'm going to be sitting on a mohair sofa, it just reduces the Velcro effect.

Only if you go to a professional to have them made into a skinny little line.

Unless it's the year after that fashion, in which case you have to heavily draw them in with a pencil.

Perhaps one day underarm hair will be fashionable, and all these women who have thinned theirs out over the year will be painting it back on with poster paint.

Damn! I hope you aren't suggesting that I should make my own mind up about what to do with my eyebrows.

Seriously I've no objection to anyone shaving any part of their body.....just don't tell me I'm horrible if I don't do the same.

Do you remove it from your entire body? I ask out of interest, it must be extremely time consuming.

No.

I have eyebrows, a 'tache, chin hairs (that I pluck with great pleasure in the car), underarm hair when I want to, hairs on my arms and legs and wherever else I want to leave it whenever I want to leave it.

You pluck your chin too! My mum broke her back (bear with me there's always a story) and while in rehabilitation her biggest pleasure was me going in and plucking her chin

I have eyebrows but I said no hair below my eyelashes. I am not really hairy so it's my preference to remove. If women want to leave hair in certain areas that's entirely their perogative x

If you're hair-free naturally I think I'd see a doctor!

I have hair on almost every part of my body. My head, face, eyebrows, eyelashes, arms, breasts, my treasure trail, punic hair, anus and legs. I don't remove any of it. Life is too short, and I don't personally like the way completely shaved/waxed skin feels on myself or on another person.

Wow. I meant dark visible hair that I remove, like alot of women do. Like I said it's personal preference to remove or not, and it's not for me to judge.

Your comment about seeing the doc I won't respond to x

To be fair you did say you thought all women were hairless.

Everyone has fine hair on most parts of their bodies. I was only referring to the dark hairs that I remove. And I had the same hormone problems when I was pregnant x

Brighton - even Hove!

As a professional opinion fence sitter, I shaved a bit off both. This is so I (and others) can enjoy the sumptuousness of partially shaved arm pits. I can lick my own elbow too.

A friend of mine has a completely hair free top lip. I've known her for over twenty years and I still think it's freaky as it's incredibly conspicuous against the fine hair found over the rest of her face.

And I'll say it again; choosing to remove hair is 'fashionable', leaving it there is normal.

I have to (well not *have* to, but want to because I dislike it on myself) remove hair from my entire body. It's a constant process and yes it takes up a huge amount of time and reduces the possibility of any spontaneity in my life. If I had nice fine blonde hair I think I could be ok with embracing it, but PCOS and pale skin and dark hair aren't a good combination so it has to go. I'm hoping I'll get to a point in my life where I can spare the however many thousands required for lasers, but until that point I'm stuck with my shaving/waxing/plucking/epilating/veeting routine, depending on which part of my body it is.
