So I have a St George tattoo on my arm representing England yet I got kicked out of a pub cause I had a vest on and it might offend anyone else think this is out of order

Was the pub rough, coz they might have been worried about things kicking off if someone did get offended (or was using any excuse to pick a fight).

My reasonable head says it's their pub so they can pick the rules, my personal head says it's sad that people can presume something about others and you got penalised for it.

Glastonbury

St George was a 3rd century soldier/martyr from either Turkey or Syria (there's much conjecture), and was buried in Israel/Palestine.

He is the patron saint of Georgia (in the Caucasus), Malta, Portugal and Romania, as well as England.

Seems like a very multi cultural icon to me.

Enjoy

Or Ireland! But it does seem silly to me.

Do people even notice tattoos any more? They're so common place these days I just see a smear of colour, you'd need to point it out to me

Herts

I started a thread on this ages ago about how we seem to _iew our own flag.

It's sad that you can't be patriotic for fear of offending or being labelled a racist. If you had any other flag tattoo'd (well, you know, so long as it wasn't ISIS or a Nazi symbol or anything like that), nobody would bat an eyelid.

However, it is their pub and their rules so I would just say don't go back.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Will this pub not be showing any England games at the Rugby world cup? Or the football on Tuesday?

They'll be out of business soon, and Chippenham can add a couple more charity shops to its collection...

Hang on.

OP, the flag is at the top of a larger tattoo - you haven't given us the whole story!

What does the rest of the tattoo show?

Maybe they just thought you looked rough and didn't want to entertain you.

Easier to pick a non negotiable reason.

Does the Dragon look particularly Welsh?

Seriously, sounds odd on the face of it. Could it be seen to be "their loss"?
