It can't fix a broken hymen.

Absolutely - I once used KY jelly as an emergency lube to fit a very reluctant motorcycle tyre at the side of the road...

The hammer mechanism on the fire bell that I'm trying to repair remains stuck after cleaning and a liberal dose of px24.

Apart from a one-for-one replacement, what suggestions would fellow fabbers have?

Thanks in advance

I should add that hitting it with a bigger hammer has already been tried too.

Thank you all for proving my point.

Miss K keeps telling me lube fixes everything and I fervently disagree.

Thank you to the power of the forum!

(See? I told you you were wrong honey!)

"Don't talk bollocks- if it did that they wouldn't have invented gaffer tape "

Duct tape is sometimes sold packaged with WD40. Perhaps lube and tape is the answer to everything.

That's because:

If something moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape.

If something doesn't move and it should - WD40.

If it needs to move, it needs some lube.

If its meant to stay still, use gaffa tape at will.

My old foreman used to fix leaking pipes (sometimes ones that transported caustic soda or certain acids) with duct tape. It worked until it leaked again, and the work order was assigned to the next free fitter - who then fixed it properly. Lazy bugger.

Until there's advanced, improved super lube, it's not fixing everything. I'll wait for the ads.
