Men who describe themselves as 'curvy'..wtf...

Jump to newest

I get quite a few guys looking at my profile and good few 'fabs' off them too. Well, whatever, not my thing, but hey ho, I take any attention as complimentary at the end of the day, even if its not reciprocated. What made me laugh earlier was that one such male admirer describes himself as 'curvy' on his profile...not sure I've seen that before...lol. To be perfectly honest the idea of a man being 'curvy' I find most disturbing...

I think people can describe themselves however they like. It's when people describe each other they should do it with consideration and thought.

"its because there is no option for chubby "

in my opinion a man should never describe himself as curvy, what kind of Man looks at himself and think....Hmmmm I know I'm curvy

it's so everything that not masculine in my eyes

ample sounds so much better for a guy

of course it's their profile to fill as they wish I personally just find it odd a guy would want to me seen as having a curvy body

I found the term curvy for men rather odd. Don't see many with an hourglass figure. They must mean their beer bellies, I guess a round belly has curves, although the opposite way.

They're not ).( but (.)

Agreed...although I'm not into fellas, When I think of curvy, I picture a narrow waist flairing in wide hips and a large bottom (in proportion) atop soft but meaty things...on a woman this is a heavenly image...on a man it is just so WRONG!!....maybe some poor chaps are proportioned just like that...after all there are indeed womem who have lean legs, narrow hips, small arses, broad shoulders and even beer bellies on occasion...sadly I don't go for them either...

Nothing worse than an ironing board arse - it needs to have curves.

It can be a challenge sometimes working out someone's build, where they just have photo snippets of body parts.

Rugby players these days tend to be incredibly fit, muscled and fairly lean. I don't know if some guys stopped watching it 50 years ago.

One approach is to ask for physical stats. If waist and chest are similar - and large - and approach height, then don't meet at the top of a hill, in case they roll away.

What's with the obsession of how other people describe themselves or write their profiles. To say we are a open minded lot there's a awful lot of criticism goes on towards others

There's certainly higher numbers of gym fit single guys on here than there are curvy. Maybe their personalities allow them to make lasting relationships with women rather than mirrors and protein shakes...

You just described my shape, although the jelly belly isn't down to beer.

I didn't choose my shape and, with the exception of the belly, I can't do anything about it.

Oh well that's fine then. Reading negative comments about how I look isn't at all damaging to my confidence as long as they weren't aimed at me specifically.

It's amazing that even on a thread about men's body shapes some feel the need to criticise women's shapes.

Heaven forfend that I actually reach a point of accepting my body for a minute or two.

It's not like I can do anything about having broad shoulders, proportionally narrow hips and no bum.

Don't be daft. The forum needs a sticky thread to remind all of us that don't meet the ideal standard that we're sub-standard.

It simply wouldn't do for us to forget it, (as if we're ever given a chance).

I can avoid fat women threads but I'm not sure exactly how I could have known to avoid reading that.

As for allowing it to (further) damage my confidence, when it's something I'm already very aware of, and reminded frequently of on here, it's not exactly a choice.

We can't control what other people find attractive but sometimes it's just not necessary to actually say it. As already pointed out, there's an awful lot of criticism of others on here. Of course it's going to affect people's confidence.

The fucking stupid thing is that the majority of these people making negative comments, intentionally or just thoughtlessly, also criticise me for being fat. If they'd lay off rubbing my nose in just how imperfect and undesirable I am, I might be able to scrape together the self-esteem to do something about that. It's far more likely I could be successful from a positive place.

As for meets who have found me attractive, how do I actually know they didn't just want a wet hole and I was the best they could manage at the time? Just because they met me didn't mean they found me attractive.

I've stopped meeting.

I'm sorry you feel this way. I hope you find a way to not be affected so negatively by the words of others.

You're intelligent enough to tell the difference between being used and being found attractive, you shouldn't let your confidence change your interpretation of the facts.

It looks like in addition to no longer meeting, I'm going to have to stop reading the fora too, since it's my fault if my confidence is harmed by negative comments about how I look.

I'm not likely to forget I'm the absolute opposite of what women are supposed to look like. I don't need to read about it every 5 minutes.

My post crossed yours. I didn't see yours till mine posted.

It wasn't directed at you anyway.

I feel I can't be a part of the forum any more. At least not for the moment. I'm not in the best place mentally and rather than being a place for escape, laughs and random banter, it's more often just hurtful.

I started another diet on Monday. It's partly for the good of my health but also partly because I'm sick of being made to feel bad because of my size.

I now feel like why bother? If I lose weight I'll still have a fundamentally unappealing build. I can't do anything about that. I'll probably also have baggy skin. And right now I don't give much of a shit about my health either. Why bother looking after myself when I'm just not worth it?
