Not after a continuation of the immigrants thread but one of the last comments spoke of being able to make people change their mind about something.

Richard Branson is one of those "influencers" I believe.

Even if other people disagree, if we really believe in something we should continue "fighting" for it (as in the sense of raising awareness and educating others.)

No, sorry - I do think it is ok and sometimes necessary to change one's mind but I was not clear in what I was asking I guess.

I wondered if we should continue to pursue a cause, continue to argue, raise awareness, educate etc if we believe in it, and try to influence others knowing that our chances of achieving this might be limited.

Of course we should, think about attitudes in the 50s, 60s and early 70s and now look at what we have in terms of gender equality and race equality. Looking back, the women a the Ford Plant in Dagenham felt they had little chance, but it took a strong voice and achieved change.

I'm happy for my mind to be changed or expanded. I'm open to learning and viewing things differently. We can learn a huge amount from others. People are fascinating. I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong though.

It just doesn't happen very often!

Time and time again I am surprised at how my thoughts about things change...not about the major things, such as racism or general ways i think we should be towards each other, but smaller day to day things...or previous 'certainties' around facts or things I thought I would or wouldn't like.
